Who is in control? The past shows that I cannot control myself. I cannot keep a job or loose weight, exercise, make friends, maintain a relationship. I live in this world all alone. I live in fear, with a mind and body haunted by a past of drug and alcohol abuse. Permeated by current food addiction and other undesirable inadequacies. "I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out." And God says "... my grace is sufficient for you, for my POWER is made perfect in weakness." “..for it is God Who works in (me) to will and act according to His good purpose.. If I belong to the Lord and Father, God, then he is in control. Then why is my life still a mess. Where is the will to live? The motivation to gain employment? The desire and ambition? The peace in the valley? The comfort in shadow of the valley of death. Has my God abandoned me? I have no answers, and I suspect anything you have to say will be of no comfort, for it is all futile.

Your in my prayers. I exactly know what your talking about. I been there one point and time in my life. I asked God to forgive me of my sins and became born again christian. I admit even christians struggles as we all fall short of the glory of God. I can actually say for a fact no matter what has come my way in life, rather it be, fear, job, depression, alcoholism, abuse God has taken me from that and healed it. When satan trys to tempt me I take authority over it in Jesus holy precious name. God has not abandoned you at all. Don't ever think that. If you can just hang in there and really trust and believe in God he will come through for you. God is not a failing God, we the people only fail him. I wish you all the best. Again, your in my prayers. He never promised the cross would not get heavy, but he did promise he would always make a way through the trials and tibulations if we just surrender to him and have faith that he shall do it, God Bless

The past may reflect the future, and teaches us lessons about how to act today, but you cannot let yourself be bound by it for the rest of your life. The human experience all occurs through the mind. If you think life is a waste of your time, then it will feel like it. Life is what you make of it. One aspect of God's part in this world, from what I can tell, is to provide you with opportunities to life your life however you'd like. He is not the one who directs your actions and makes you do one thing over another. That is up to you to decide -- and obviously it's not always an easy life to work your way through.
You obviously want a better life. Otherwise you wouldn't have cared to post your question here. The worst thing you can do is give up -- resign yourself to the present. The desire and ambition to live are there within you, as I said, because you've posted this question. That is evidence enough.
Where/in what setting/mentality have you achieved the greatest sense of personal value, perhaps even inner peace and contentment? If you know this, that is probably where you should be right now. If you don't know this, seek someone who can advise you -- a close friend, family member, spiritual minister, counselor, even psychologist.
I wish you the best of luck in your journey.

Maybe you need to go to a doctor and see about getting help for a possible depression problem.
God hasn't abandoned you, God can do anything, but your the one who has too accept it and do something about it.

I suggest counseling. If you just want to talk , I'll be there. You are not going to live a life free of suffering in this world the way it is now. God gives us the responsibility of making our own decisions. I hope you can find some enjoyment in life again. You will have to pick up the pieces. Get out there and meet people, do different things until you find out what you enjoy. I have been where you are. If you e mail me I really think I could be of some help. It's up to you to take that step. God wants us all to be happy. There's a place in the NT where it says if his will is to burdensome..., Any way I'm going to have to look it up. Please, reach out to someone. Best wishes.

I will pray for you. God is not in control of problems you chose to create for yourself. He has given you the tools to make better decisions. He will help you if you reach out for him.

And so....you're just sitting around feeling sad and doing nothing? Waiting for God to come rain sunshine into your life?
Grow up.
God didn't do that for His own Son, He didn't do it for Peter, or Paul, or any of the other Apostles. He doesn't do it for little old me, and He aint gonna do it for you either.
At some point you have to take some responsibility for yourself, get off your butt and go live a life. It isn't supposed to be all smiles and rainbows....so suck it up buttercup.

I am sorry for all the cold hearted answers people left for you!
I suggest going to your priest and ask him for his help in assisting you. If you feel evil in your life, heart and mind, get yourself blessed and ask for guidance.
With the right help you will in time be ok.
Keep your chin up and trust yourself to do what is right.

Visit a psychologist. Sounds like you are suffering from a chemical imbalance - they have programs, support groups and medicine that can help.

You cannot exercise? Cannot keep a job? Ridiculous. Don't attempt to make this seem like a supernatural problem, when you simply aren't mentally strong enough to get off your lazy butt and change.
