My apologies, the recipe for gravy is to chop a small onion in to slices, chop up a clove garlic finely and fry in butter until nice and soft.
Then add six tablespoons of balsamic vinegar and reduce to about half. Then make about a half pint of vegetable stock and flour, add to the reduction, keep reducing until it tastes good, I also added some rosemary , but I think thyme would be just as nice.

It ended up a nice dark brown, and kept getting darker the more it reduced

That sounds so good. I love onion gravy and usually just fry onions and add to a store bought gravy mix as Real gravy is only made on days I make a roast!
I sometimes put ketchup or chop sauce in which tastes great, so I'm going to try it with Balsamic Vinegar instead next time! Hope it's as good as you say.

Ooooh, snap! I've have toad as well. I put my red onion with the toad, and normal gravy and a nice rose wine to drink. I will try your gravy, sounds delicious

If you want a nice salad dressing, try olive oil with basil. You can buy it in a bottle, but I mix my own. Yummy with tomatoes.

I luve adding chopped Italian basil and a tinge of Brovil to any gravy made. Try add these to yours. They would make your toad in the whole taste even more awesome.

Gravy....Who cares about the gravy! Why did you not make my toad in the hole as well?

Anyway since you asked nicely it's vegetable gravy made by the roux method.

That's sounds absolutely wonderful, especially since I'm starving right now! My gravy experience only extends to store bought stuff for Thanksgiving so I'll say yours is my favorite gravy, even without tasting it!

My grandmother's milk gravy from when she made fried chicken or fried pork chops... browning up the flour with the browned bits in the pan... adding milk, salt and pepper (sometimes a little Kitchen Bouquet) and serving it over mashed potatoes.

Bet you'd never know I grew up in Virginia - lol

I love a sour cream gravy over rabbit....mmmmm

Well, it's pretty straight forward......take the drippings from the rabbit and mix in sour cream, flour (I use rice flour since I'm gluten free), salt and pepper. But simple is good right! What is your gravy recipe?
