First, let me say I am totally NOT in favor of these "designer dogs" but my neighbor has a dog that's part Yorkie and I can't remember what the other part is.. I swear her owner said Chow but I know there's NO WAY that's possible as the thing is just tiny, maybe 5 or 6 lbs.

So what do these "designer breeders" mix Yorkies with? I already know they mix them with Poodles.. what else?

Well I know they CAN and will breed them with almost anything but what are common breeds mixed with Yorkies? I know about "Yorkie-Poos" Do they mix them with cocker spaniels? What other breeds?

they can be mixed with absolutely anything that is about the same size.

a "designer breeder" is just someone who lets two different pure breeds mate and have a litter.

Since a good portion of "designer breeders" are puppy mills, anything is possible. So, if someone had several breeds in cages on the site, and a Chow was in heat, and the yorkie next door found a way out, it is possible.

Remember, Designer breed is just a fancy name for Mutt.

A "Spring Board" that's the call given to a mix of Springer Spaniel (many times English, many times container-bred) and Border Collie. Yeah, because of the fact crossing a dogs which could bounce 6 ft promptly interior the air from a standstill and takes as much as 3 years to psychologically mature with a dogs which could pass from 0-60 in a million.2 seconds and has an obsessive could desire to be working and moving sixteen hours an afternoon is a super concept ~ sarcasm ~ on the different hand, the call is a quite precise description of the madness of maximum that I even have met...

A Yorkie-Poo would be a cross between an yorkie and poodle. Many "designer breeds" are mixed with poodle, because poodles don't shed.
The layman's term for "designer breed" is mutt...because that's what they are, mixed breed dogs.

The new popular mix is a cross be tween a Bulldog and a Shi-Tzu. They call the Bull-Sh*t. :)

German Shephards. THAT would be a heck of a dog.

I agree with you, I dislije the whole designer dog idea. However, I am also against any "foo-foo" dogs. They do nothing but bark, serve no practical purpose, and are plain stupid. The smallest dog I have ever owned is a Cocker Spaniel, but I usually prefer larger Labs and Golden Retrievers.

Any dog small like like a yorkie. Maltese Yorkies make cute mixes. They also use Shih tzus, pekes, chihuahuas, or any small dog.

heck there are no rules about what dog can be bred with what dog, not all "designer dogs" were intentional, some were accidents, but I doubt its a Chow CHow (did see a Rotti xShihTzu once, it was an accident)

Pom would be my guess... the look like smaller Chows?

I know one of the designer-mutts that is gaining popularity is the "chorkie" a Chihuahua/Yorkshire terrier mix. Since you thought she said chow, I would guess a "chorkie" is what your friend has.

Most dogs around the same size.
I was also against them, until I read up on the frequency of genetic disorders amongs them vs 'purebred' dog breeds we know. That changed the way I see them.

Anything these backyard breeders can get away with and sell to the public.
