Recently a list was on yahoo showing the top puppies, alot of people were angry that their dog was not included, including my dog a dachshund. Tell me about your dog and why he/she should have been included. I would put mixed breeds at the top, because they don't get much attention.

Let me add, I love all dogs, no matter what the breed, what great companions they are.

I have a very ugly, stupid looking MUTT that I got for free when no one else wanted him cause he's really really UGLY. I named him how he looks . . .stupid. That's his name "Stupid" Stupid is a heinz 57, part this and that, who knows or cares but I think he must have taken the absolute worst of each breed's looks and it's mixed all up crazy. He is an OUTside dog because some parts of him are long hair and some short but the long hair part is back by his tail so when he goes #2 some usually sticks to him. YUCK!!! Stupid is actually really smart, (to my surprize), and knows lay down, stay home (we have no fence yet), time to eat and several others commands. He is an active lizzard hunter, that he is proud of being and lays his "prized catches" on our door step for us to be proud of too. Stupid loves going ANYWHERE in or on ANYTHING. He leaps in the back of the pick up when we go to leave, he jumps up on the back of the quad when I start to go for a ride. He loves to greet visitors by jumping up on their doors to kiss them through the window, and most people stay in their cars thinking it's agression. One day not to long ago, I was walking along with good ol Stupid by my side when a coiled rattlesnake in my path started buzzing like crazy. Before I could turn and run Stupid was on the snake and rattles were flying this way, snake head with fangs went flying that way. Did Stupid save my life? Well not quite, there was plenty of room for me to go around Mr. Rattler and all three of us go on our merry ways, he actually endangered it more by slinging the snake head in the air. I guess it's the thought that counts, or should I say,"lack of thought". Anyways this ugly stupid dog, (albeit I'ld never let anyone know), is my favorite. He's got GE, Hotpoint and most other garbage disposal manufacturers beat by litteral leaps and bounds. I open the door, give a quick toss, and Stupid leaps all over it, gulping and glomming until it's devoured.
I can tell you honestly, that I shudder at the thought when I pull into my driveway and not have Stupid come get in front of the truck doing his "happy-hop-dance" with his ugly short/long multicolored dirty tangled hair and poopy butt.

I have a golden retriever called Danny and i wouldnt be without him

Before Danny we had Prince and so for my whole life i have been with Goldies and could never be without a goldie. They are the most loyal and know exactly what you think and always like strokes.

Dogs are brill and i would be so miserable without them
Goldies ROCK

Yep i think all dogs in kennels should be top of the list because they dont deserve to be there.

I have been at rspca six months now and there has never been a dog that does not deserve a loving family. They are all gorgeous and caring and just need socialising with nice normal people and they will soon be back to HAPPY

I have a 15 month old male Rottwieler. He is 110 lbs and still growing. His previous owners did left him in a kennel for four days with no food or water and when their roommate came home he found him malnourished and frantic. He told them if it happened again he would take the dog to the SPCA. It happened again and luckily he had been trying to find a Rottie rescue nearby and we decided to take him. He has been the sweetest boy in the world. He's very smart and knows how to sit, down, stay, shake, speak, heel, out, hup and also knows the commands leave it, get back, and off. He sleeps in bed with us and if there is a noise outside he lets us know. He is very docile and even gets beat up by the cat. He loves kids and babies and gets along great with other dogs. He likes smaller dogs because they intimidate him less. He likes to watch movies with us and still tries to snuggle in our laps. He does have nightmares every now and again and it is difficult to wake him up from them. He loves to play football but becomes worn out very easily. He is always trying to make friends and loves to be socialized. When I go home to Florida I take him to the dog beach and let him play. He loves the water and the wide array of dogs and people to play with. He really is the sweetest big baby ever.

i have got a pedagree red tan boxer and he is so affectionate i dont think there should be such a thing as a list of THE BEST PUPPIES at all as every one is differant and every dog is different i think that you are right mixed breeds dont get much attention and they are fabulous companions but on the other hand a mixed breed hasnt got a particular name as well so.....i dont understand how people can say well that breed is better than all the others because it is quite clearly a personal view not collective group> :@ (LOL)

I have two registered German Shepherds. I got my female when she was about 6 weeks old. I had the mother and father of my male. So, essentially, I have had him since the day he was born.
They are both exceptional watch dogs and very sweet to the people that they know.
My female is a dominant female with a very strong ball drive that she got from her sire (dad). She carries a ball around with her ALL THE TIME!!! She is very sweet, but has her own agenda when it comes to getting petted!!
My male is a huge love!! He hangs around me whenever I am outside. He loves to be loved and tries to be a lap dog. Only one problem - he is 91 pounds. ( He came from dogs that were show stock)
By the way, they are both fixed!!!

The four most recent dogs I've had were all mutts, but all had outstanding personalities.

Bear was red heeler/german shepherd (looked like a heeler with broad chest and HUGE ears)

Tippy was black lab/pit bull (sweetest disposition ever)

Lucky is pit bull/akita (just a big lap dog; she's SO affectionate and cuddly

April is border collie/australian shepherd (only had her a few weeks, but she's a character!)

I had dogs all my life, my favorite was a kommondor, he was the most gentle giant, and he was very loyal. I trained him from early puppyhood .since I think a big dog like that should be well behaved and the owner should be able to contoll him. But I like all dogs, and different people have different tasts .
