ok now I have to be more specific because some people are really......bad at knowing the definition of assertive! Being assertive doesnt mean your pushy! There isnt a fine line between assertive and pushy! Being assertive means that you can stick up for yourself and your not a pushover. It doesnt mean you boss people around at ALL!

The type of men you are describing are insecure and controlling. good for you for waiting for that special guy who loves you for you. I hope you have a long happy marriage!

There is a very fine line between assertive and pushy - men like assertive and nobody likes pushy. There is also a fine line between knowing what you want and expecting that everyone else agrees with what you want. I have known some very together women who know what they want and don't settle. I have also met many who are bullies and hide behind the excuse that they are assertive and know what they want. Maybe sometimes your assertiveness came across as pushy? Just a thought.

When a woman is assertive, a man's world collapses signalling the end of dark age when woman obeys his commands, like a slave, and treats him like a god.
In a modern relationship, men and women should hold to egalitarian beliefs to establish a happy marriage in the long run. Those who still believe women should be submissive and domesticated are trapped in the age of darkness.

I think it's the fact that they may not be use to one. So when they get a girl who is assertive it's different for them and it takes time for them to kinda except and realize what they have. If that makes sense.

Some guys like the damsil in distress types. But, they fail miserably with these types...don't change who you are.
Some guys have to learn life's lessons the hard way, including my son. Unfortunate, but true.

Nothing....except guys can't manipulate them into doing what they want the girl to do. More power to you!
