What kind of callousness does it take to know everything and be all-powerful and -not- be just and compassionate towards innocent babies?

Why would an all-knowing, all-powerful, all-compassionate and all-loving God -not- find a different way of treating the babies of the Flood than to -drown- them?

For that matter, why would an all-knowing, all-powerful, all-compassionate and all-loving God -not- find a different way of treating the butterflies of the Flood than to -drown- them?

What dangerous evil did butterflies present that your God had to drown all of them but two of each type?

What about baby bunny rabbits, hermit thrushes, lions and tigers, blue jays and black-capped chickadees, hummingbirds and pandas?

Your holy book says these are the things your god did.

Why do "christians" believe their all-knowing, all-powerful, all-compassionate and all-loving God -drowned- all of these innocents?

Do animals really matter on the great scheme of things- I shall answer for you- they do not. Do they have emotions? Do they have a soul? I shall answer for you- they do not.
And as for the human babies- the whole point was that the babies' mothers and fathers were corrupt and perverse people, and they would raise their babies the same way. If he killed only the parents, then the children would all die because there would be no one to take care of them. And such (seemingly) harsh measures would make people think twice about sinning. You do not know what kind of people God killed. This is not a trial of God’s actions- and you are no judge. For your sake, do not question God.
Why do "christians" believe their all-knowing, all-powerful, all-compassionate and all-loving God -drowned- all of these innocents?
As you know (or at least should know) these people WERE NOT innocent- that's why He KILLED THEM!
P.S. You spelled Christians wrong…
Nice post Art...

I like that you are searching....

It sounds like you are searching for truth. That is so important in today's world.

The killing of Innocent children is a terrible thing. So is terrorism and rape and many many more things. But it is not fair to blame God. He loves the animals and people of this world that He has created. But, with people, it was a special love. He loved us so much, that He gave us the option to choose. It is said that in the days of the flood, evil reigned in people's hearts. Those people made their choice every time they committed evil. And the children? Perhaps He loved them so much that He prevented them from making the same mistake.

As humans, death and suffering seem the worse that can happen. But we forget or we perhaps are not aware, that there is eternal suffering that is far greater, more painful than anything that we can experience on this earth.

I'm sure my friend, that we'll disagree in the end of this question. It was not my purpose or goal to try and change your mind....but to simply answer your question, according to my own beliefs of scripture and my faith. I admire you for seeking truth. I do sincerely hope that you find it, beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Be good to yourself, but be good to God first.

Why do you think God is only just Love? He is a God of Wrath and discipline his children like a parent does with a child.

How many times must we tell you folks, that our belief as Christians is based on our faith in God. We do not pretend to have the mind of God, or even pretend to know why God does what He does. But as God, infinite in wisdom as you will admit you are not, He makes the decisions and we trust Him in his infinite wisdom to make all the right decisions.

IWhy do you say "YOUR GOD?" God is everyone's God. People just have different belief's. I am not a christian, But Why in the world are you reading a christian bible if you are of different religion? First off, There is still a war going on between good and bad. God did not make those things happen, Satan did. Christians were not around at the time of Noah's Ark. Maybe you should read about Noah's Ark....Look it up in "The HOLY BIBLE" You know, Your Bible and Mine? Obvioulsley, You have doubts about your own religion because you are reading about ours. The Bible will give you the answer's that you want.

Since God is all-knowing, He knew what those babies would grow up to be like... just like their parents. Their fates were dependent on their parents, just like in many situations today.

Your question assumes a literal reading of the flood story. It did not happen. No flood ever covered the entire surface of the planet. Therefore, the flood story must be metaphorical.

Why are you so obsessed with this. Atheists abort babies, ever seen an abortion. Maybe we should arrange a trip to an abortion clinic so you can watch good Atheists abort babies.

I guess that puts humans on par with God.

Humans want to right to decide which babies live and which die.

Now aren't you glad you're one of THEIR KIND, for our kind don't do that.

That's your kindred doing those abortions.

Since Christains are, generally, opposed to ABORTIONS and BABY KILLING, I would imagine of GOD came today and said he was going to drown Babies, Good Chrisitians should be opposing him, just like they do Abortion Doctors.

But you see, when Noah was around there were no Chrsitians.

That's why it happened.

It's takes a CHRISTIAN to oppose something, even when God proposes it!

I'm as far removed from being a Christian as one can get, and even I am becoming irritated by your constant questioning of a book that was written thousands of years ago. Can't you try to be a little more accepting of others and stop your own preaching for a change? It's becoming quite annoying.
