you have to put two or three bells on her - cats can learn to move so that one bell doesnt make a sound.
but that wont stop her hunting slower animals or babies who cant move away fast enough.
the only way to stop her is to turn her into an inside cat.

Why do you have a cat, if you keep it in the basement and outside? It is a domesticated pet, you know. You can't stop a cat from killing if you keep it unsafely outside. You can try a bell on the collar, but even that may not work. Your dog lives in the basement too? You sound like real animal lovers.

Not sure if you can change this behavior as these is there true nature she is a hunter, you will probably not have trouble with rodents are snakes though. She is also bringing these back for you to eat she is repaying you, you could try deep frying the treats shes is bring you, just kidding. You could try lots of different toys, fake mice, play with her more often and feed canned foods, cannot think of anything else to try this is a natural behavior going to be hard to change.

dont EVER put perfume on a cat.... they lick themself to be clean and it can cause cancer.
bells dont work either - they are smart and learn how to walk without making a sound.
Best thing is to keep your cat in. Perhaps the cat shouldnt have access to the basement.
Or put a dog run up next to the door so the dog and cat are contained in the dog run when outside...
Make your yard less attractive to birds? no bird feeders
DO NOT punish your cat for doing a natural cat behavior.

GOOD LUCK! I had a cat that would bring a dead mole or field mouse to my front door every day. The cat is instinctively hunting. I was told that this is in a sweet way of asking for praise of what she has done...????
Simply a theory...

There is nothing you can do. She is an outside cat and she is doing what she does naturally. She is going back to her 'hunter' roots. She is bringing the bounty to you. Unless she should become an inside cat which is highly unlikely, there is no way to stop this behaviour. It is inbred and by leaving her constant access to the outside and the privilege of returning at will, you are almost reinforcing it.

The Cat's Diary
Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are
fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt
for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something
in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.
In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today, I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their
feet.
I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly
demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending
comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Bastards!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight.
I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event.
However, I could hear the noises and smell the food.
I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies."
I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today, I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my
tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking.
I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.
The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released,
and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.
The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicating with the
guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move.
My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell,
so he is safe -- for now.

Surrender her and the dog to a rescue organization. You clearly are not suited to have animals. Pets dont belong locked up in a basement..that is called neglect.

You can't. She's providing food for the pride, that includes you. Just bin the dead animals and be thankful she's not bringing them in live. My daughter's cat used to bring in half-dead rabbits and my friend's, living earth worms.

As the others have said - its natural, but you can help reduce her chances of making a kill by putting a colar with a bell on her - it warns whatever she is trying to stalk that she's there.
