One of the easiest way to get the icon back is go to
Start-Programs-Highlight Internet explorer right click and Create Shortcut on Desktop.
If you wan the programmable icon i.e the original , download this software TweakUI:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
Go to Destop and re-enable the IE icon.
You can also do a heck loads more from this software , check out its feature and im sure u'll love it.

You could pull it out of your recycle bin if its still there (drag and drop). Or you could (if your running Windows XP) go to your start menu and internet explorer should be at the top of the list. Right click and click "Send to" and than desktop. If your not running XP, look for the IE program in "all programs". And follow the same steps.

Right-click anywhere on the desktop and point to New and then click Shortcut. A screen should pop-up. Click Browse... next to the text box and navigate your way to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer and click on iexplore.exe. Click OK.
Click Next and type Internet Explorer in the text box. Click Finish.

somebody who's quite stable with computers(like somebody who has a level in them or can do intense tech stuff on the laptop) can likely retrieve it. in case you don't recognize somebody like that regardless of the undeniable fact that, it is going to value you likely $one hundred or greater.
