it doesnt matter what time of the day you eat as long as you dont consume more calories a day than you spend.
the only thing is to try not to eatj 1-2hours before going to sleep because your body needs to rest and if you eat before bed its gona have to digest the food instead of resting.

Eating late won't cause weight gain. Weight Gain and weight loss is a simple equation.
a 3500 calorie defecit is one pound lost, and 3500 in addition will cause a 1 pound weight gain.
The problem with eating at night is that some people tend to eat excess calories at night. If you split up your calories into 6 meals or whatever, you can eat a meal at night and split the other 5 out throughout the day. So you can eat at night without weight gain, but just make sure your total calories (throughout the day) are low.

YES. everyone's metabolism slows down at night (from low energy level, etc.) eating something at 9 o'clock or later will cause more weight gain than eating the same thing during the afternoon.

that's actually just a myth. The only way it could make you gain weight is if you were going way over your caloric needs by doing so. Food does digest slower when you sleep, but it won't make you gain weight.

No. My last meal is usually around 11pm. If you stay within your daily caloric intake, your body will use the food for energy. It's important what you eat as well. If you are prone to fat accumulation, limit your carb intake at night.

Yes it can, but it depends on what you do after you eat. IF you are sitting in front of the tv or going to bed you have given your body no chance to burn off the calories and they get stored. Glucose from the food either gets used as engery or stored. So most people recommending eating earlier in the day.
