We are going with an early fall feel. Lots of greens with touches of dark red, orange, golden yellow and ivory. My dress is "chianti" in color (looks like a deep red/burgundy). I want a small bouquet with the ribbon wrapped around the stems. Help!!! Can I put some in my hair, since I'm not wearing a veil? Thanks.

I had a september wedding and used a lot of mums and colorful fall leaves in my arrangements. My bridesmaids wore dresses that matched the fall colors as well.

Congrats!

Roses, mums, and carnations are available in all those rich fall colors of deep red, orange, etc. My friend got married in October and had a bouquet of orange roses (with a white dress) while the bridesmaids had bouquets of deep red, orange, and golden yellow roses and mums (with champagne/cafe latte colored dresses). You can most definitely put them in your hair (I would recommend the roses as they would hold up the best). If you can't afford real roses (and honestly, who can....plus they'll die in a few days) there are so many varieties of silk flowers out there that you could by 20-30 dollars worth of flowers and do several variations to find out what you like and then re-do the other ones for your bridesmaids.
As for the ribbon, I recommend wide silk or satin ribbon (might as well splurge on the good stuff since you won't need much of it). One or two well placed pins or (my personal favorite) hot glue will keep the ribbon in place. Go crazy, have fun, its your wedding, all that matters is how you feel about it.
The links below are for nationwide chains of craft stores and they all have links for bouquets. If you find one you like, but want real flowers, print the picture and take it to your local florist they should be able to make it for you.

now you don't want anything to match matchy i assume. so I would go with a lighter color then your dress. A bouquets with mixed flowers would be a good option, since it it a fall wedding. you should have the stems wrapped in a dark blue, that is if you like blue. dark blue is the september color.

Gerbera daisies. They are large flowers so you don't need a ton of them for a bouquet and they come in many colors, light and dark. I had burgundy ones in my wedding.

my friend had purples, whites, yellows and orange in a small grouping with a purple ribbon ... yours could be a Chianti ribbon obviously!

Sept 29th is my bday ...

GOOD LUCK!
