It seems their position is "You ain't goin' to Heaven unless you are Church of Christ".......and then once you join the Church of Christ their position is "You ain't goin' to Heaven unless you are Church of Christ like I am Church of Christ".
I am sick of it. Even my "raised in The Church" wife of many years is sick of never quite measuring up.

Fireball that is not a generalization. It comes from over 40 years of experience. I did not mean to attack any one........I asked a very straight forward question and I would appreciate a straight forward answer.

Fireball's response is fairly typical. When faced with a difficult straight forward legitimate question attack the questioner? Anything rather than answer the question for which there is no pretty answers.

I don't think it is as much a religious thing as it is a human nature thing. It's like keeping up with the Jones's. You're not really successful unless you drive this car and live in that house and fall into this tax bracket...etc.
Look at politics. Can I really be a Republican and support more social spending? Can I be a Democrat and be opposed to abortion?
Remember school? I didn't decide what was cool to wear or the hip phrases that I should say. Somebody else told me that I should wear Panama Jack and IZOD. Somebody else told me that I should memorize the script of Wayne's World and Monty Python's Holy Grail.
I also have a "raised in the Church" wife who is sick of it. Just keep in mind that we are only human. The church may be perfect, but it will always be filled with...us.

The church is made up of men. The Bible says we should be speaking the truth in love. Sometimes this is a difficult balance to maintain, but we must not sacrifice either truth nor love!
Our goal should be to follow the Bible as our authority. We should use the scriptures for our doctrine. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
In matters of Doctrine we should have unity. We should have a "thus saith the Lord" for all we do and teach. (Col. 3:17) We should "all speak the same thing" and have "no divisions"! (1 Cor. 1:10) The only way to have such unity is to follow the scriptures as our source of authority.
Many times though, men seek things after their own desires (2 Timothy 4:1-4) When this happens, we have dissentions and division. These are listed among the works of the flesh in Galatians 5:19-21. This disunity is not how it should be.
We as men, yes even those of us who are members of the Church of Christ, need to strive for "the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." (Eph. 4:3)

Sounds like "spiritual abuse" to me. They also don't believe that anyone can receive the "gifts of the Spirit". There are also apostolic sects that "fake" reception of these gifts. Each is only making Hell hotter for themselves. This is all the result of "The Great Deceiver". Satan is a trickster, and the greatest one he ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't exist! These zealots don't respond to reason. Read the scriptures yourself, and pray for Divine Guidance to open your eyes to the truth.

Hense why I don't go to church. Members of the "Church of Christ" are fake in my opinon. Church and religion is a man made idea and it's created many wars because of it. Religion Divides people and belief in something brings them together.
