Many tattoo artists are smart and know when someone is lying. Also... any GOOD tattoo artists will ask for i.d BEFORE giving you a tattoo. If you are underage, they will need permission from your mom or dad before they will tattoo you.
The guys that you have to watch out for are the ones that will tattoo you without i.d.
Some good questions to ask tattoo artists before your tattoo are:
How long have you been tattooing?
Are all of the needles new when you use them?
Do you wear latex gloves while tattooing?
Do you throughly wash your hands before and after each tattooing?
Make sure that all tattoo needles are opened infront of you.
Any good tattoo artist will not be anoyed by your questions. My tattoo artist was very sweet and even asked if I had any questions.
Also... ask to see previous work of his. Look at his portfolio and see what other tattoos he has done in the past.
Don't be afraid to be a watchdog and look around at the place and see how clean it is. Good luck!

The ones who are most likely not to ask for ID, are the tattoo parlours most likely to not be up to scratch. Anywhere that will accept you without ID (especially if you look young) is more likely to have dirty needles, poor after-care advice, or even..get the tattoo wrong.
Also, tattoo parlours are getting increasingly strict on ID nowadays because they can get fined or even stopped from practising if caught. So the ones that don't have got to be really bad!
I know it seems like a tattoo is exactly what you want right now, but wait until your old enough. That way you'll have had enough years under your belt to decide if it is really what you want for the long-run and you can be happy in the knowledge you've got it done professionally.

Don't lie.Bad karma. If you find a tattoo artist that will tattoo you and you are underage they aren't a reputable artist.Just wait until you are old enough to do it on your own.Make sure you are getting a tattoo for the right reasons.tattoos are very easily regretted when done on a whim or just to fit in.Make sure you are positive you want one and have done plenty of research most of all you get something you will love FOREVER.Getting them removed hurts more and costs alot more
if you have to ask how to lie you shouldnt even try since you obviously are not very good at it

they ask for your id and when i got mine done they took a copy of it and put it in a file. they asked for medical history and all kinds of other stuff. tattoo artists are regulated but the board of cosmatology of your state and they get state inspected just like your local hair salon. so i would almost say that a artist is not going to take a chance on some kid.

Most ask for id. I'm sure some don't (just like when you buy beer or smokes.....some card you some don't) I'm willing to bet that most of them will, nobody wants to give up their career and well being for an adolecent. Maybe you could bribe them but I wouldnt fall for it if I was your artist.

You have to show id regardless of age which they xerox.....you can't lie...wait it out...18, 18, 18....
Also - if you're worming around trying to "trick" the artist then you have no business getting a tattoo anyways.

~Buzz~ try again.... Tattoo artist aren't stupid... then know when someone is trying look older, they can spot a fake id from a mile away. Just wait untill you are old enough to know not to lie.
I have seen little girls in my piercing place... trying that stuff won't work.

You don't. They will ID, and if you go to someone who doesn't ask for ID, you will get a craptacular tattoo, and most likely a disease as well. Just wait until you are 18. Its really not that hard.

you don't. it is illegal to get a tattoo if you are under 18 without a parent's permission. it's the law for a reason. just wait til you're old enough and enjoy your youth as it is now.
