I had roadrunner installed in my apt about 4 months ago, and there's only one cable outlet in my living room where my computer is. Well a week ago i had to have a tech come out to fix it, and when he was checking everything he noticed that I had a splitter on the cable from the wall to the modem (which was put in there by the tech who installed it [guess it had to do with the db's being to high or something]), and he asked if i had cable too. Well after he left I thought "what if i tried and hooked it up to my tv too?", and so i hooked up my tv to the splitter and violia I had around 75 channels. I was wondering if I couild get into trouble with having it like this? And would they ever find out? Right now I have it disconnected because I'm afraid of getting arrested or something like that, but I was just wondering if it would be safe to have it connected, and if they would ever know.

thx so far, but to clarify:
1) I am paying for cable internet
2)the cable running form the wall to the modem was installed with a splitter (he told me the db's were to high or something like that)
3) I installed a cable from the splitter (they installed) to my televistion.
Also sombody had mentioned that they would be able to monitor the signal output. Would it matter if my internet was on the same cable as the television?
