well, you can buy a speical birdfeeder, were there is like a cover thing so when a squirrel leaps onto it the cover goes down, and they can't get to the food, ( because of its weight). but, yet a bird is light anough, so the cover doesnt go down. (you can ajust the cover)!!!!!!

Make sure that your counterweight on the squirrel proof feeder is set so that the door that shuts off the seed closes when a squirrel gets on it. Move anything that they can stand on away from the feeder (our Absolute was raided by raccoons until we realized that they were standing on a flower box to get to it). If it's on a pole, you can get a "chimney" that fits onto the pole or you can make your own from a coffee can (spray paint it so it doesn't rust and look yucky). If it's hanging from a chain, there are plastic half domes that won't let the squirrel come down from above. We've had squirrels try unsuccessfully to get into the Absolute but the chipmunk could do it because he didn't weigh enough to close the door. We added a coffee can to the pole and that was the last of seeing the chipmunk sitting on the perch with his little cheeks bulging with sunflower seeds.

Sorry, but they will continue to do this until there isn't any food in the feeder. I would stop putting bird seed in there for a while and when you notice the squirrels aren't coming around any longer, then put seed back in the feeder.

Put up a sign that says "No Squirrels Allowed" or "Birds Only". That should do it.

That is a hard one.
There's a plastic shell you can place at the base to stop the squirrels.
They are smart and very destructive.
