Leviticus 24:16

The Bible god told the whole congregation to take part in stoning the blasphemer.

Sounds good to me.

But if you claim the Bible god never changes, why did he stop doing that?

Now presumably this god says we have free will. When did he come up with that idea?

Now a blasphemer has free will, therefore we can't all just stone him and get it over with?

Why couldn't the Bible god have kept his original methods?

Why did he have to change?

if he didnt they would have to explain why we dont get huge floods and plagues from the vengeful god these days.....so he's mellowed out for a bit...but he will do it again in the future so you have to afraid and tow the line because of that

its all about controlling the masses.

Why do you have to take things out of context?Stoning? Come on.The meaning behind a number of things in the Bible is not Physical. We as Christians Cast verbal stones every day at people like you who we are disagreeing with.In life people progress we don't live those time any longer.God and the Bible still stand strong, they have Never wavier in over 2000 years .The times have changed the words still are the same.

If you view religion as having two parts, social laws and ordinances and spiritual laws and ordinances, the idea of change can begin to make sense. Social laws and ordinances are relative and suited to the age in which they are revealed. They are a positive force in society until humans with their own agendas obscure their original meaning and intent beyond recognition. Then it is time for the social laws to be renewed with laws more suitable for a more advanced time in history.

Spiritual laws and teachings on the other hand are eternal. They don’t change. For example, justice, a spiritual concept and practice, is never going to be a bad thing. Spiritual laws and teachings do however, need to be expounded upon and broadened as humanity progresses spiritually. It is really the capacity of humanity that limits what religion can do either socially or spiritually.

We can compare the idea of progression and need for change to a school analogy. Our first grade teacher, although as smart and knowledgeable as our twelfth grade teacher, teaches us according to our capacity. When we are in the sixth grade, it is the same situation. Now a good question to ask might be who are the school teachers an analogy for?

You'll get a lot of "Jesus is the spirit of the law" stuff. That basically means that they can't explain it without saying something completely contradictory, like what you said.

Or you'll get the "people of the OT times needed those harsh laws in order to keep order and the time came when those laws weren't needed as much because people progressed to a certain extent."

The laws are not God himself...they are how God dealt with a society at that time. God never changes, but we do. How we are changes our relationship to him...but not his to us.

Think about the earth revolving around the sun...the sun never changes, but our proximity to it does and therefore we have seasons of hot and cold. We dress differently because our position has changed...not the sun's.

It was all a terrible misunderstanding. God told the congregation to go get stoned with the sinner. That way they would all be mellowed out and could get over it. People can be so dumb.

Idiots will come out and say, "New testament brought by Jesus applies today". That still doesn't answer... why was that god such a sadistic monster in the old testament? And why did he turn into an innocent pus$y all of a sudden?

Be prepared.. Christians will attack you for sure, look at Uncle Thesis below. These people attack any thinking individual capable of challenging that ridiculous barbaric bible.

When christians cannot answer, they'll get as harsh as possible to demean you... You'll see ahead anyway.

Why do you persist in listening to people who wrote the old testament? Their mouths were not prayerbooks. These were superstitious and unlettered people. Too many contradictions, too much nonsense. Read the new testament. Unlined the words of Jesus in red and you cant go wrong. Old testament? Mostly fairy tales and mythology

Jesus never said to not stone people, he just said you had better take a good look at yourself before you pick up that stone.

He changes because he likes to change. Those who say he never changes are blasphemers, and should be stoned.
