You are having severe spasms in that leg. If you can rest for a couple of days that's going to help.

This is the first place your body targets when you are dehydrated. Drink lots of water! You should be drinking 8-10 glasses of water each day. I recommend purified water and mineral water mixed 50/50. The mineral water is going to put back into the muscles what they are losing on a daily basis.

take calcium and magnesium capsules, 500mg twice daily, this will help Relax the muscle and relieve the pain.

For now, if you have something shaped like a cylinder and made out of hard material (think of a large rolling pin you would use for pizza dough or something) place it under your leg and push down and roll it back and forth...this should massage the spasms out of your leg. It will hurt while you're doing it, but more so the type of pain that actually feels good, in the long run.

I'm an alternative medicine a.k.a. homeopathic physician.

Trying is believing :)

1. Homeopathic remedy Arnica 30: 3/4 drops in 1/4th glass of water; 3 times a day would work wonders.

2. Bryonia 30: 3/4 drops in 1/4th glass of water; 3 times a day.

3. Carbo Veg 30: Bryonia 30: 3/4 drops in 1/4th glass of water; 3 times a day. Our calf muscles are called the second heart as these pump the blood back up to the heart; Carbo Veg is most efficacious for people who spend most time on their feet e.g. bartenders; barbers etc.

The above remedies also act as preventive medicines.

Best of luck! Alternative medicines are great pain relievers too.

It definitely sounds like you were woke up by your leg cramping up on you. The best thing to do when you are woke up by this again is to start massaging your calf vigorously until the pain or shaking goes away. The best way to prevent it from happening again is to eat a banana everyday, your leg is cramping due to the lack of potassium.
