It's not so much funny as it is sad. It's sad that Americans don't know about the world around them. Then again--look at the UK, Germany, France, and even Australia. You could walk on the streets and find just as many people without a clue then make a short clip about all of it. Of course, there probably were several US citizens who did have a clue but didn't make the cut. I'm sure they were going after the typical 'dumb' American and it looks like they found it.
I am American. I may not be proud of everything that goes on here but I'm proud of the ideas America was built on in hope that someday we'll return to that. Of course, I was born and raised outside America [Panama, UK, and Germany] so I have a few different ideas but eh...what are you going to do?
EDIT--LOL! Some of these answers show the pure ignorance that defines "American" to the world around us. It's just too sad but funny at the same time.

Although I was born and raised here I believe that being an American is more than just being born here. It is a frame of mind, a way of thinking and a way of living.
1. Americans work together to help the less fortunate, stand up for other's rights as well as their own.
2. They put their country first, and what is best for their country. For instance, I don't like President Bush, and think he is the worst thing that happened to America, but if someone tried to take him out, I would fend them off with my own life. Why? Because he is my President.
3. Americans try and do what is right. They believe in God, they care about others.
4. We have courage and guts. We never give up. We persevere.
That's why when they tried to change the language in CA. to being second and our main language to being Spanish, it made me believe that the people trying to change the language were not real Americans. See the difference between the people who came over on Ellis Island are different from the illegals today. The illegals don't want to learn our language, our ways, or to build us up. They just want to take, make a buck, but the ones from Ellis Island, or the African Americans who were brought here as slaves, they are the real Americans. They built up this country. It was made on their sweat. They wanted to be Americans. The illegals don't want to be Americans, they just want to take, to get, to keep. They don't care about anything else.
I love America and am very glad that I was born here, grew up here, and have tried to serve my country to be a help and not a burden. Many people, especially the illegals yell about the American Dream, it is what they want. What is the American Dream? To me, it isn't money, cause that goes and comes, it is living in a family which is what America is. It is looking out for each other, caring about what is best for someone other than ourselves. It is able to worship whomever we want, speak out against our government if we disagree, have as many children as we want, and have peace. The American Dream is not a dream of getting something monetary, it is a way of life. Living in a free nation. That is what matters.

Because we are raised to think this way. A couple of years ago I would have said to "just nuke the middle east ". too. Then I found out America is run by big banks and big corporations, who don't give a crap about any one or anything besides their own agenda. So in conclusion I am proud to have accomplished things that I have accomplished I didn't accomplish being born in America,it just happened.

By being American, I avoid having to live in some third world shi*hole. If America is such a bad place, why is the rest of the world imitating us, and why do they all want to come to our country? Believe me, there would be no arguement from any of us if all those who claim to hate the U.S. would go back to where they came from. Then everyone would be happy.

I was born in this country of foreigners..whites, black, chinese..ect. , but consider myself mexican 1/2 foreigner (spanish/native american. This place was made by straight killing, raping, germ warfare. Im here and I have assimulated to the devils ways..ha ha. In reality, this country is not going to last that long. Very short lived, compared to countries that thrived for thousands of years.

Because it is a place where even blithering idiots like you are allowed to speak their minds. Because I can worship (or not worship) the way I choose. Do you listen to rock music or jazz? Gee, both originated in the US. Wear jeans? It started here. If you don't like us, don't bother us. We can get along just fine without YOU!

My grandparents came to America in 1912 and they became proud Americans! They left "The Old Country" behind. They taught us to be proud to be Americans.I clicked on your link and I found it to be quite rude.

I am not proud to be an American. I am proud to be a U.S. Citizen. And you anti-law mexicans who believe you have a right to come here are sadly mistaken and you're not welcome. PROUD TO BE A U.S. CITIZEN and Proud to be pro-law enforcement and anti-criminal invaders!
