I get the error message "there is no cache to operate on"... I can't find anywhere what this means!? Can anyone help please? thanks.

Possibly it means that it has nor acquire the image. Cache refers to memory, a temporary area of disk space where the acquired image resides, unless you have no free disk space . Once an image is acquired then scanner will save it to disk as a temporary file. You can then put the image into a program like photoshop or print it. Usually you then save the file in a folder in My Documents.

Check that the image has actually been acquired.

It sounds to me like you are trying to scan DIRECTLY to a CD or DVD.

You can't do that. Scan to your hard drive first, then use "Burning" software to save to CD, etc.
