Try the pillsbury french loaf. You can unroll it and use it to make pockets. Or you can use puff pastry from the frozen food section. Thaw the puff pastry and you can cut it . Which ever one you use just be sure to get the air out before crimping the edges.(It might blow up while baking)
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Yuck, no ready made!!! Fresh is so simple, why would you choose ready-made? Sorry, I'm a purist. Fresh is best. No preservatives or hidden ingredients. Use the recipe for crust of Empanadillas. They are a fried turnover filled with ground beef:

EMPANADILLAS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 c. flour
10 tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. water

FILLING:

1/2 lb. hamburger
1 onion, chopped
1 carrot, grated
1 green pepper, chopped
1 celery, chopped
2 tbsp. tomato paste
2 tsp. chili or taco seasoning

Brown the meat. Add all filling ingredients until tender and set aside. In a bowl sift the flour. Add salt and sugar then add the shortening. Cut with a knife or pastry blender until it forms little beads. Add the liquids and beat until it forms a soft dough. Sprinkle flour on the working area. Roll out the dough thin and cut into circles 3 to 4 inches across (repeat method until all dough is used up).
Put 1 teaspoon filling on one circle and fold the circle dressing the edges with a fork. Bake the Empandilla at 400 degrees until golden brown or may fry until brown.

You can try taking Pillsbury biscuit dough and filled reach one with a little cheese, meat and potatoes or another other favorite topping that you like. Fold and crimp the side with fork so it won't leak out. You can fry with or place in oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

On a cookie sheet, place the crescent roll wedges in a circle, wide side of wedge towards the middle, pointed end towards the outside.

Pasties

8 boxes of Jiffy pie crust mix, a box yields 3 to 4 pasties
solid Crisco shortening
1 package of beef stew meat, cut bite size
5 carrots, peeled and diced bite size
4 russett potatoes, peeled and diced bite size
4 onions, diced
1/2 a bunch of fresh parsley, diced
salt
pepper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Put meat, carrots, potatoes, onions and parsley in a large pot, add salt and pepper to taste. Mix well. Set aside to marinate for about a 1/2 hour. Mix meat and vegetables again at end of 1/2 hour.

Use 1 box of pie crust mix at a time. Mix together pie crust mix and water with a fork until dough holds together. Using your hands, press dough together into a firm ball and divide into 3 or 4 parts. Roll 1 part of dough out on a well floured board to about the size of a cake plate. Do not roll the dough too thin (The dough circle will be about 7-8 inches across).

Using a large slotted spoon, place about 1 to 1 & 1/4 spoons of mixed meat and vegetable ingredients in center of dough. Put about a 1/4 teaspoon of solid crisco on top of mound of ingredients. Fold dough over and cut excess dough off with a knife. Seal dough around the edges with the tines of a fork. Put a small slit in the top of dough to allow steam to escape. Place pasties on cookie sheets.

When 2 cookie sheets are filled place them on the bottom and middle racks of oven. Bake for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes exchange each sheet to other rack for even cooking; move bottom sheet to middle rack and middle sheet to bottom rack. Bake for 25 more minutes. Remove pasties from oven, allow to cool for 25 minutes, and lift off of pans gently with a pancake turner. Leftover pasties can be wrapped in foil and refrigerated.

*** I used 8 boxes of Jiffy pie crust mix, 3 pasties per box; about 4 & 1/2 pounds of meat with the specified number of vegetables; about 1/2 tablespoon of extra cold water for the pie crust dough; a little more than 1/4 teaspoon of solid Crisco shortening. Yield: About 23 pasties.
