Toyota known for quality might be over blown. Xterria has a titan frame underneath a 4.0 liter 265 horsepower engine with lots of low end torque. Off road and motor trend 4x4 of the year. While not economy car the room inside is quite good. and you can open the back door independently from the front doors. Also sit in each and see if you can see anything out the rear. Toyota rear hatch window is useless. If I was only using this trucklet for road I might buy Toyota But if the future is serious 4x4 or some 6,500 lbs towing my choice would be Nissan. Get the rancho shocks and off road NISMO edition with electronic locking rear differential. But I'm just a Nissan Mechanic

I wouldn't necessarily know which is "better" , but I would say the Nissan. I have had problems with every car I have ever had except my Nissan. They hold up for years. I had my 1990 Maxima for 10 years and it still ran like the day I bought it. The only reason I got rid of it was because I needed more room for the kids. I would buy another Nissan in a heartbeat.
