san - the most common and used suffix
you basically use "san" after someone's name when:
- you first meet the person
- you want to show respect to the person
- your counterpart is of the same status or higher than you, and you're not personally close with him/her
- it basically means miss./mr./mrs. - except that it's also polite to call someone by name in english without one of the suffixes

chan - a cute way to call a person
you use it toward:
- a close friend
- younger person
- someone you want to show that you think he/she is cute
- guys don't really like to be called "chan", coz it's the same as saying they're cute (instead of handsome)
- but you can say it to little boys or your younger brother, or your friend's younger brother

kun - the special suffix used for young man
- guys would prefer to be called "kun" rather than "chan"
- only used to address young man who's status is either the same as you are or younger

sama - the most polite suffix
- use it to address someone who's status is higher than you, e.g. the director in your company
- used to address ambassador, president, king
- your parents in-law

-san is formal. You attach it to the end of the last name. It means Mr./Mrs./Miss. it is used for people you don't know very well.

-Chan is very informal. It is used when people know each other very well.

-Kun is used when addressing small children, mainly boys.

-Sama is used for addressing royality or someone of a higher status than yourself.

-sempai is used when addressing someone who is older than you (like in school or work).

-sensei is used to address a teacher, or someone with more education than yourself.

-san is for appointing someone of the same level as you, like ur friend or sumthing, or some guys u see on the street.
-chan is for someone younger, or some cute remarks to someone of ur same level, or sumthing like that.
-kun is for appointing someone who you clearly do not respect, in a nice kind of way (i guess)
-sama is someone more powerful than you, someone you do and must respect, and gods-->kami-sama
