no. if there's infection, it's usually localized just to the piercing site. i'm sure there are exceptions in extreme cases though.

i don't know what type of jewelry could turn the tongue green. the only types of piercing jewelry i am aware of are gold, sterling silver--which has a natural antibiotic quality--titanium/blackline, zircon gold/zircontwo, niobium, steel, surgical steel, implantatium, pyrex, acrylic/plexiglass, teflon(pfte), horn, bone, and wood.

EDITS: there can be problems w/ nickel or steel jewelry that has a high content of nickel silver. a lot of ppl are sensitive to it. buy implant grade or surgical steel.

Only in cases of severe infection.

If you want some sources cited, well you're in luck:

I personally knew a girl who died from hers. She had a pre-existing heart condition and bacteria from her mouth made it worse and she died.

So yeah, not the best idea in the world.

Hope this helps!

thank you for reminding me why i never got my tongue pierced! to answer your question -- i am sensitive to nickel -- it turns my ear lobes and fingers green if i wear jewelry made with nickel. i am guessing if you have an inferior tongue jewelry with nickel and you are sensitive to nickel, you may get a green tongue.
