i like the quote, it could actually be very relevant to society today, it actually lacks a religious overtone, which i find refreshing, many would like the quote, but may be put off by the fact that it came from a saint.

Perhaps, the Ways of Achara Dharma, the practical rightfulness or righteousness like the practicalities of Sun rises and Sun sets, Heaven and Hell, Right and Wrong, Good and Bad, Life and Death, Success and Failure, Veda and Vedanta are way too complex, changing and subtle to be in tune with the Real and Permanent Atma Dharma ie aiming Salvation, Moksha, Moha Kshaya, the Cessation of All desires, just like the Sun in the back ground that neither rises nor sets. Scriptures need to be studied deeper into understand the fine underlying threads which perhaps, are not the case with most of the so called practitioners and followers in today's world. May be that also a Divine Art, Tatvamasi.

Perhaps like having faith in the Word, Jesus and His actions and yet compelled to respect all other religions and sinners for eg for the practicalities of this Delusive World created by the 100% Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient Almighty Lord who can take any form and shape any time and anything can be unexpected any time, sometimes may be achieved and the glory shall be sang by all and sometimes, becoming failures to be forgotten.

It's a nice quote.

Sadly, the church in Assisi was damaged in the 1997 earthquake which rocked the entire Umbria region of Italy.

Even sadder is the fact that thousands of people still live in trailers, because there are no funds to restore their homes.

The church was restored in record time.

Perhaps it was "necessary" to restore the church first...then ponder the impossibility of restoring the people's lives.

We wonder still today.

I don't think it's necessarily logical. You can't suddenly be doing the impossible if it is, by definition, impossible. If you're doing it, it's possible. I know that the Lord has said, that with His help, nothing is impossible. All things are possible in the strength of the Lord. There are many things impossible for man alone to do, but with the Lord's help all things are possible. Paul said, I can do all things in the Lord, which strengtheneth me. These thoughts I share with you in all humility, God bless.

Should we send St Francis of Assisi some Magic Puppies? Now don't even think that we can't do this!

We have a limited knowledge/perception, we cant always decide, what is necessary for our self.
So We should have a guide and a patron to follow him for success in this life and Eternal life of hereafter.
Many unnecessary thing are there which are impossible as well.

I see the graceful beauty in that quote. So many require others to do things for us, always someone other than ourselves. To do what is to the extent of our abilities is such a rarity that it is on the threshold of impossibility.

The message of the quote is that you can do more than you believe you can, but no one can do impossible things..... Only God can do the impossible things. Have faith in yourself and your talents will come into bloom. See you in heaven.

Hi Debra, that is a great maxim from the Great St.Francis who as you know was totally poor and without resources and yet he achieved so much in spite of much opposition and the mockery of the spirit of the world in his day.
For those with real trust and faith in God nothing is impossible, because God is master of the impossible.

Many times this may be true. Especially in regard to spiritual things may God help us to accomplish what is beyond our own abilities.
