There are many, many definitions for the word "spirit." But what matters the most are God's definitions for the word. This is what I understand to be God's definitions for it:

"Each individual is a spirit child of Heavenly Father and existed as a spirit before this life on earth. During this life, the spirit of the individual is housed in a physical body, which was born of mortal parents.

The scriptures teach that at the time of physical death, the spirit does not die. It separates from the body and lives in the postmortal spirit world. At the time of resurrection, the spirit is reunited with the body, "never to be divided; thus the whole becoming spiritual and immortal" (Alma 11:45).

The scriptures also teach about the nature of spirits. Through the Prophet Joseph Smith, the Lord revealed that "all spirit is matter, but it is more fine or pure, and can only be discerned by purer eyes" (D&C 131:7). The Lord also revealed that "the spirit of man [is] in the likeness of his person, as also the spirit of the beast, and every other creature which God has created" (D&C 77:2; see also Ether 3:7–16)."

This is my sincere belief. God bless you.

Truly yours,

Arthur :)

Okay this is not proof or anything I am simply stating a view on what spirit is.

Words for spirit are always interchangeable with words for air and breath and therefore life force. For instance Hebrew Ruach (wind, breath, spirit), Hindu Prana, Greek Pneuma.

But more interestingly kabbalistic mysticism goes into a great deal about the nature of soul and spirit and classifying it. For instance the Ruach is your spirit, one of the aspects of your being. And the ruach is basically the equivalent of "mind". So that sense of "you" that awareness is spirit. Of course there are even deeper levels than the Ruach such as the Neshama, Chiah and Yechidah.

I may not interpret this entirely correct but these are my thoughts on the subject.

Perhaps, Ways of Achara Dharma, like the practicalities of Sun rises and Sun sets, Heaven and Hell, Right and Wrong, Good and Bad, Life and Death, Veda and Vedanta are way too complex, changing and subtle to be in tune with the Real and Permanent Atma Dharma, just like the Sun in the back ground that neither rises nor sets. Scriptures need to be studied deeper into understand the fine threads which perhaps, are not the case with most of the so called practitioners and followers in today's world. May be that also a Divine Art, Tatvamasi.

i've got self belief that the spirit is the component to someone who holds directly to all the thoughts we experience long while we die, i've got self belief that the spirit will linger around those we like so as that even loss of life can no longer keep us aside from those we carry maximum precious, i've got self belief the spirit is what makes us who we are and it is the Angel we become while the physique dies......despite if i do no longer think in God, i do have self belief interior the capability of the Human spirit and the affection we've for our particular ones which makes an prolonged-lasting bond.

No, of course not. And science is never about "proof". Ever! Even the remotest inkling of that went out the window with Einstein's overthrowing of Newtonian "Laws" (200+ yo?)

And from a "logic" POV, no supernatural entity, force, etc. can be either proven or disproven. How can one (dis)prove:
- Bigfoot, gnomes, Santa, Nessie, the FSM...?
- alchemy, astrology, bent-spoons, psychics...?
The mere prospect is ludicrous, though people tried for eons.

There is *NO* Evidence for spirits or *any* other supernatural.
Spirits are drink, only.

We can prove that everything in this world is Energy. If you looked at a rock under a powerful microscope you would see that it is a mass of tiny moving atoms. I think of God as pure Energy and everything that is is God. Our Spirit is a piece of God and so I think that Spirit is Energy and can be proved to exist. By someone cleverer than me! Lol!

Not everything can be proofed by science, and a spirit is one.
Spirit exists or you wont be alive, but its not like an organ or tissue that u can see or touch.

for the spirit to be a scientific proof you need to analyze it... but the unfortunate thing is this: we cannot even map our consciousness... how can you map 'spirit' if we do not know what imagination is? what cognition is?

If it is on the spirit of God it means on the will of God. God's spirit is God's will

If someone say to you that you have the spirit of God to love him it means you hve the will of God to love him.
