The annular tear means that your intervertebral disc has had a ring shaped "tear" where the collagen fibres have been broken. It will heal.

You need to get back to activity.

It is well demonstrated that the people who do best with back pains are those who are self-employed. They have nobody but themselves to arrange their workers compensation and find that they need to get up and get back to work.

Pain lets you know you are alive.

If the doctors are happy that you have not injured your spinal cord, you should have a short rest period and then return to activity. Work and physiotherapy would be good for your back and good for your back pain. You will need to strengthen your back muscles and further rest will make them weaker.
