my jack russell doesnt seem to be bounding as much as he used to. i dont know if this is because he's growing up now and maturing or if he's sick. he's up to date with all his shot, he's wormed and i've put his coat on to keep him worm. he's lost a little bit of fur around his left eye and there are some red spots/lump that look like dried up blood. it has been like this for a long time and he is not losing anymore fur. what could be going on? when i take him outside, he's fine again. he's sleeping right now

I also have a JR. My JR slowed down as he is getting older. When I first got him he was almost out of control and now years later he is totally different. As you metioned your dogs still likes tp play but not all the time, this is the same thing I have experienced. One thing I was warned about was not getting the dog overweight. This can cause huge slow downs in JR'S.

Good Luck!

Do you keep him in as a house pet? Could he just be bored? I don't know, ever since I moved into an apt with my dog she sleeps a lot, doesn't really like to play.....unless we go outside then she gets really excited again. Maybe take him in for a checkup with your vet...it can't hurt!

He's aging! Smaller dogs age faster and their life span is shorter then Larger breeds. It's great he goes out and plays rough the way he does, that good for him, but give him his much needed and desired rest, also keep his food intake down and not alot of people food .

Maybe he's allergic to something in your house? Tell your local vet. whats going on with him. Maybe they could help out a lot more. :)
