For the last 8-9 months, i've been having strange things happen to me. I make up things that i believe but don't realize i make up until someone proves it to me. And then, there's a man who follows me everywhere. He stares at me while i'm in my bed at night or waits in the bathroom with me when i'm taking a shower. i know he's not real but i see him. I'm losing grip on reality. Even more now because my friends think that i'm a compulsive liar so they're angry at me. I don't know what's going on. What do i tell them? I don't mean to lie. I mean, and it's not technically lying. I do things that end up being..not real. Am i hallucinating? I've being crying a lot as well as thinking of suicide. I don't want to. I feel so alone. I have the most amazing girlfriend in the world and i don't want to hurt her. But even her, right now, can't help me. I need help. I need a listener. I'll take anyone right now. please. i don't know what to do.

Can you go to your parents about this? Don't lose focus and understanding that this "man" who follows you is not real. Suicide is never an answer, only an end. Think about the things that do go right in your life and the people who love you. If you feel the need to do something impulsive, go straight to an emergency room to feel safe. You don't have to be evaluated, just go to be safe and feel safe.

You need therapy and possibly medication to control these urges to lie and stop the hallucinations. People are willing and able to help you.

I wish you the best....

You have the classic symptoms of schizophrenia, with delusions, paranoia, and suicidal thoughts. You are probably in your late teens or early twenties.

The good news is that antipsychotic medications like Seroquel do wonders. Did you know that 90% of patients can achieve a good control of their symptoms and that most of them lead a productive life, working in good jobs until retirement age?

But it is imperative that you seek the help of a psychiatrist who is best able to prescribe the right medication for you and ensure a good follow up.

Tell your symptoms to the secretary of the psychiatrist when phoning for an appointment. This will help to get a speedy appointment.

Good luck. Most of all, act now! And never allow yourself to be complacent about your condition. It is extremely serious, but it can be controlled with the right medication.

It sounds like you might be skizofrenic. You should most definitely talk to a psychiatrist. They'll be able to help you out!

I found this site, that could help you out with the comulsive lying. http://www.mental-health-matters.com/articles/article.php?artID=153

Just tell your friends that you're going through a lot of tough times at the moment, and you just need them to just stay by your side when you need help. You might even want to explain some of the problems you're having to them. If they're your true friends, they'll stay by your side, and understand whats going on.

I think you have a problem and I also know that you're not alone. And you don't have to get people to believe you. I carry
my own hell around and eventhough I don't go through the same problem that you are going through, I do suffer from a mental illness and I know how it feels to have people around you who think you are the way you are simply because you want to draw attention to yourself or something. I think you should go and see a professional because you're problem is obviously serious and your considering suicide which I believe is something you shouldn't ponder over anymore.

Have you considered talking to a counselor or your doctor?
I think almost everyone has thought of sui at one time or another. Even I've thought of it when I was preg with my 2nd child, but then I figured everyone would be happy and so I decided to stay alive just to piss them off more ;-)

Just hang in there and get some help. There are people that are professionals in this sort of stuff. They'll know what's best and you'll be better before you know it.

Okay, either you are really good at psychology and are pretending to be schizophrenic, or you really are. Truthfully, your question kinda scared me, it was kinda creepy. Not of you to ask, but about that guy. I think if you're not making this up, you might have schizophrenia or you are beginning to develop it. You should make an appointment with a psychiatrist and tell him/her what you experiencing. It's very important that you seek treatment as soon as possible bc what you are experiencing---the symptoms of schizophrenia---could very well get worse with time and interfere even more with your life.

If you're seeing people who aren't there, that by definition is hallucination, and visual hallucinations are not likely due to schizophrenia, but are likely either due to drugs (and if you're taking drugs, you could quit) or a significant medical problem. You don't just need somebody to talk to; you need treatment.
