I had a stroke recently and lost some vision. Medical term is called occipital lobe infarct. Doctors do not know what caused it, all my blood work turned out good or great. I had a blood clot somewhere in the body and that is what caused the stroke, but Doctors dont know where. Does anyone know of websites besides WebMD to give me info about this? Very scared as I have 2 kids under 4. I was very lucky with what happened but I am also very worried about another one happening. Am i now considered Disabled? If so, now what? I need some help with as much info as possible. and what to do next..... anyone?

I had a ruptured aneurysm at age 36, and lost all vision in my right eye. I lost a third of my blood volume. The doctor told my husband it was the largest he had seen on a live person! My sons were 3 and 7 at the time, so I refused to die.
Do you have any other permanent changes? If not, you probably can't be considered disabled. Did they do a Cat scan of your brain, an MRI, a cerebral angiogram? Is your blood pressure/weight OK? Do you need any follow-up?
Check all this out with your doc, and ask him where to find answers he doesn't know.

The only way to know if you are now considered disabled is if your doctor will not let you return to work and if you are apply for your disability as soon as possible...i dont know of any websites but try doing some searches on strokes and the causes of strokes...
