why Nepal has 90% for Hindu? not Buddhism?

everyone knows Nepal is the mother land of Buddhism, however, there is 90% of people follow Hindu and a very very small percent for Buddhism?

NEPAL is the only official HINDU State In the World due to this, the majority of the population in Nepal practice the Hindu religion (86% of the population), whilst the remaining religions are represented by Buddhists (8%), Muslims (4%) and ‘other’ (2%).

Large tribes and communities of indigenous origins, are also closely linked to the earliest synthesis and formation of Hindu civilization. Peoples of East Asian roots living in the states of north eastern India and NEPAL were also a part of the earliest Hindu civilization. The Hindu new year is also celebrated in Nepal in the month of April, usually falling on the 14th of the month. Nepal is the only Hindu country where the Hindu calendar, known as Bikrama Sambat, is the official calendar.

Since the roots of Hinduism was spread in Nepal for many centruries still Hindust are at a higher level here. Very old temples like PASUPATHINATH etc., shows the prevance of Hindust here for ages.

Buddism was originated from India only and later spread to Nepal and other countries, but in Nepal it is not very much. There are the reasons for Nepal having high percentage of Hindus-

90%? it is a lil bit more than reality which is 78%-84% =) but i know what u mean...

In Hinduism, Lord Buddha is the 9th incarnation of Lord Vishnu (God of preservation). To the world, Hinduism and Buddhism appear two different religion but to us (Neplease) they are same; Nepal is "the Melting Pot of Hinduism and Buddhism". I myself follow both Buddhism and Hinduism. Similarly, other Neplease too. In Nepal Buddhist celebrate Hindu festival and we too celebrate Buddha Jayanti (birthday of Buddha). Likewise, Hindu and Buddhist visit each other's temple as well.

India is the mother land of Buddhism, not Nepal. I would guess there are so many Hindus in Nepal because it's close to the Ganges River, a holy Hindu place.

India is the mother land of Buddhism...besides there are less number of people practising Buddhism in Nepal than in India itself due to the large population of the nation...So anyway Hinduism outnumbers Buddhism which doesnt make Buddhism any less popular....

Cant you be a hindu and still be a Buddhist? As my understanding of Hinduism goes, is that you can still be a Hindu but still proclaim to be an athiest. Hmm, to be honest just because a country WAS doesnt mean it IS.

Buddhists are tolerant of their brothers and sisters and moved out of the way so they would have a place to live.
