Odds are when we get married next year it will be at the courthouse, but only because we really need to save money. If we can, I'd like to get married in the mountains, rent a cabin, and go skiing. I found a nice bed and breakfast that had a wedding package for $800. It included two nights, small cake, wine, minister, photo, etc.

Now what I *really* wanted to do was have a mountain wedding during the weekend, then when summer comes have our honeymoon. I had already talked him into visiting Canada and going bungee jumping. :)

My marriage took place in the grounds of Panorama House on the side of a high mountain overlooking the ocean and a long white sandy beach at Bulli, NSW, Australia. The reception afterwards was also at the venue:

It was the most beautiful backdrop for a wonderful ceremony which spoke of our love for and trust in one another, and the joy and generous wishes of our family and friends. Lovely people, great food, highly recommended!

I will be marrying my Christian boyfriend at the end of this year in Village Hall, and the ceremony will be done by the Village Justice. No church, no mention of God. And yes, he's fine with that. His mother, on the other hand.... oh well. She doesn't have to attend. He's fine with that, too.

Ever heard of a Justice of the Peace? How about a mayor? The captain of a ship can marry people. The christians don't have a lock on the market......

Stretching it to call this a religious question - marriage is always a legal arrangement, and only sometimes - and secondarily - a religious one.

I got married in a Courthouse, because it was the easiest and cheapest option, even though we had to go interstate to do it.

I'm Deist and I'd probably still get married in a church...but really I'd rather get married somewhere personal, like my grandparent's backyard or something.

I was married in a court house that no longer exists. So... technically I was married no where.
