I'll admit I’ve made mistakes in my spelling & felt negligent when I discovered them after my message was sent. Even though I proof and spell check my writings [especially when posting online] some typos still manage to slip through. Although, I know others are concerned as well about what they write, still it seems many carelessly expose their misspelled words, hence misunderstood messages to the online community every second. As any English educator will tell you, typos turn most people off. I realize for some writers English is not their first language and proper translation is difficult. However, for native English language adults there is no excuse for excessive carelessness in writing. Typos are distracting; readers get caught up in trying to understand the writer’s intended word(s) and forget the message. Believe it or not, most readers will not answer questions laden with misspelled words. Your comments are welcomed.

A few typos are acceptable, but I've seen grammar on here that is unbelievably bad. I proofread my stuff before I post it, but sometimes a slip up happens, and if I notice it I go back and edit the post. I know exactly what you mean, but not everyone has had lessons in punctuation, spelling, grammar, etc.

Typos, don't really bother me as long as I can understand the point being made. This is the Internet and people write in with many different level of education or command of the English language.
Let's be fair you can only speak for yourself ,when you said,
"Believe it or not, most readers will not answer questions laden with misspelled words." I response to anyone who stimulates my mind. From a Teasher:) Don't sweat the small things!!!

I applaud you Tammy! Several times I have read a question on Yahoo! Answers only to discover I have no idea what they're asking. Typos, poor punctuation, and improper sentence structure makes it difficult to effectively communicate. That said, no one is perfect and I forgive the occasional typos. I have run across people who are mad that no one has answered their ill written questions. I laugh to myself and move on to the next one.

Yes, but it always has been one of my pet peeves. Most people just don't care enough to make an attempt at proper grammar. Which is a shame, since I notice some of those people also write that way in other settings.

No! I do it all the time. Yahoo! Answers is for educating people not criticizing them. Typos don't bother me it is the people that reply to others "Oh you miss spelled that word, learn how to spell!" that bother me. Everyone on Yahoo! Answers are from all over. Even 11 year olds are here. Get over it we aren't in Englishhhhh class. Oops!

I agree with you. I am careful with my answers and questions. I guess we are in a minority, though.
