Myself, remove King Brian from office and put Mike Helton into his spot and Humpy into Heltons spot. What's your thoughts aside from from banning Dale Jr or Jeff Gordon from racing.

SLSF, I agree with you and you make a very, very good point. Let the boys race, that's what they get paid to do.

Chris, I really like the idea of using the Rock and Wilksboro for the Allstar race. GREAT point!!!!!!

Nuts, I couldnt agree with you more on the part of it just not being the same since we lost Winston. As for Jr, I really dont feel that people give him the credit he deserves as a driver, the man cant help what his name is and the perks of having that name, but Jr is taking a big step leaving DEI to prove that he is the real deal. Only time will tell. I

Greg, great point. The green/white/checker is crap. 5 laps to me sounds like a good idea.

Matt, great point! I pisses me off to see the same guy get it more than 1 time, even if it's drivers that I pull for.

David, Once again my friend you are dead on. I like the way you think.

Die_sch, I'm personally not a big fan of road courses, but I have warmed up to them more than I was 10 years ago. I think we need more short track racing.

Bejewel, I'm on the fence there, but you do bring up a very interesting point.

2007-05-20 05:15:56 · update #9

007, I like the double file restart change. But some times a good car does get trapped a lap down, but I do like the idea.

2007-05-20 05:17:24 · update #10

Mich, I totally agree with getting rid of the top 35, but the field needs to have some type of a limit on it. It may not be a bad idea to bump the field up to 44, but the cost that would go to the tracks for this would be nuts. Some tracks can barely fit 43 cars on pit road the way it is.

2007-05-20 05:19:44 · update #11

Ray, you've swayed me away from the 5 lap ending. I agree, the race needs to end without the extra laps.

2007-05-20 05:20:59 · update #12

Ray, great point, I wish John Darby thought along these same lines.

Get rid of the cutesy-poo, political correctness that's crept into NASCAR. Also, 4 words- let the boys race.

Remove restrictor plates from super-speedway races- shoot, NASCAR vehicles have more sheet metal & cages around them than Indy or Champ open-wheel cars that run 220-plus, so why be wussy about it? RAce or stay home.

Wow!! what a great response to a great question. I thought I was only one of a few that feel the way most of you do.
One thing I absolutely disagree on is GREG'S yellow flag comment. If running a 500 mile race at the end of that 500 miles that should be it. The only way that would make it right is if there is a caution at 498 mile mark, freeze the field and let the cars come in for fuel only so they don't lose there position.
EXAMPLE the Talladega race. I think 5 of the top runners had to come in for fuel so they could finish the race on account of this green white checkered rule that should not be, in the first place.
NEWBIES is what this is about. Your 5 green flag endings could last along time and that is not what the sport is about. As corrupt as ASSCAR is now they really could control who wins. If a driver like Biffel doesn't like his posision he can just take someone out to gain that important points position. Seen him dothis at Bristol thats why I used him.
Let them race.
Control there outragious fineing teams for silly things.
Get rid of the chase. Once again this is a tv idea of lets get a roundball type ending to the season. This would work if YOU KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THE SPORT AND IT'S HISTORY, which an awfull lot of fans fall into this catigory. Only in asscar
If you made the rest of the teams park there cars for the rest of the season so things like what happened last year doesn't make my point a fact with Tonu Sewart cleaning house in the last 10 races. This rule is so wrong. The people who know racing know who is on top and of isn't they don't need the chase.
There is more and about the best way to discribe them is they all took place in the last 6 or 7 years.

Matt and 007 I agree with you.....the "lucky dog" sh**, literally is just that! They need to just let them race and quit changing the rules.....they do that just about every week! I can't even keep up with it! And the "mandatory" cautions are a bunch of crap too! And the restricter(sp?) plates-if they didn't have those at the big tracks, they wouldn't be racing in one big pack and have the BIG ONE. I think that a lot of it is rigged, I know Smoke said it, but I thought that waaay before then! If Nascar doesn't do something different, they are going to devastate the sport, as we used to know it, and people are going to (as we see here on Y!A) just say, TO HELL WITH IT! But King Brian (as you put it srjr.) and all of those guys will keep making the $$$! people will still go and watch - So why would they care what we think! And I won't quit watching, b/c I'm addicted to racing: open-wheeled (love the Indy 500), WOO (love Eldora) b/c we live close to these two tracks, and these guys...but I just get more frustrated with it each race! aaahhhhh!!!!!!! So I guess I'm done complaining/answering! Oh, well I feel better now! Thanks!!!!

The point system. No points for just leading a lap and for leading the most laps.My reasons are
1.Some drivers let other teamates lead a lap for the 5 bonus points which sometimes are points that wasn't earned.I understand why they do it and everything but it doesn't seem right.
2.If a driver leads the most laps he should not get the 10 bonus points if he does not win the race.In Football a team that has led for three qtrs. of the game but loses doesn't get any bonus pts. in the standings.
I know that's how the scoring works in racing and that's fine.It is just my opinion. I wish you would let me know if you think my idea makes any sense.Oh and no Nextel drivers driving in the Busch series

Limit drivers to winning the lucky dog to once per race or perhaps do away with it. What is this gaining multiple laps back because you fell behind? You should win the race because you have the best car, or the best strategy. It's only a matter of time before a driver is a lap down and a teammate taps someone to bring the caution out and give his teammate his lap back.

Oh man... that's like asking what I'd do to change the Federal Government. First off... put the Racing back in Nascar. Quit trying to fix things that ain't broke. Stop trying to exercises so much influence in the outcome of races. (I agree wholeheartedly with Smoke) Trying hell... they ARE influencing outcomes. Pay more attention to the fans of the sport as opposed to what the fans pay to see the sport.
Forget the C.O.T. It's just another of Nascar's ways to play the role of "Big Brother.
What I'd REALLY like to see happen is for the team owners to wrest control of THEIR sport from Nascar. I'm a fan of stock car racing.... NOT of Nascar. I wish they'd go the way of USAC back when they governed the Indy cars. USAC got so far out of control... just as Nascar is now, that the car owners rebelled and formed CARTwhich later became the IRL.
Man... I could go on and on, but the more I write, the more angry I become.
I've complained to Nascar... I've complained to Sprint/Nextel. But I feel it's like whizzing into the wind. I might as well complain to George Bush.
Auto racing has been my sport since I was about twelve, and brother.... that's a LONG tome ago. It saddens me to no end seeing what it's become.
It's not about racing any longer. It's not about the fans who are responsible for the growth of the sport. It's become a dog & pony show for the almighty dollar.

Wish it was still called , looked like and was the winston cup. Nascar has really gone down the drain , a lot of bullshit within the rings and it's getting old. Don't get me wrong I love nascar but it's just not like it used to be in the Winston Cup. So much has changed and I'm afriad it's been for the worse. Personally I dislike Dale Jr. for it just seems like he gets everywhere with his name instead of his driving , unlike his dad. I dont have an Opinion on Jeff.

I would BAN the windtunnel except for use by Nascar for safty purposes only. Cut teams to 2 cars. If you drive Cup, then NO driving Busch (like the local short tracks do--- if you move up a division then you can't go back ). Bring back Rockingham and N. Wilkesboro for the All-Star races- have 2 ayear. Atleast they would get used for SOMETHING !

The bonus points to lead just one lap is LAME!!!!

Teammates give that lap away to each other. Ditch that 1 lap crap and go to a 5 and 15 lead lap bonus format.

To encourage RACING, they should bump up the amount of points for leading 5 laps, and then have another set of bonus points for leading 15 laps. This would encourage drivers to RACE each other.
