The short answer to your question is, YES, it is hard to do
a 30 minute 10K.
Check your local newspapers for local road race results.
Look at the winning times for the 10K. Look at the winning times for the 5K and multiply it times 2, is it still under 30 minutes?
Probably not. I think that you get the idea.
Can you run a mile in 4:50? Can you keep running 4:50 miles
over 6 consecutive times?
Maybe you can do it ; most people can't.
Give it a try.

First, you must state your current PR for 10,000meters for the track. Running 10,000meters on the trackis a lot harder than the road. It may seem the same but when you circle a 400-meter track 25 times, it does get to you mentally. Plus adding in the surges going on, some pushing, occasionally spiking and you find out how hard it is.
Once you advise of your PR, I might be able to tell you if it is possible or not. Myself, I found running a fast mile hurt me more than my 10,000meter track-PR.
Finally, to the person who said 10,000-meter is 7.5 miles. Sorry but it is 6.2 miles. (Actually, it is 6.213711922 miles....)

10,000 Meters is 6.2 miles, and is a wonderful race. Never tried it on the track, but I run 10K road races. 30 Minutes is a great time. But it will take time and a great coach. The world record is 26 minutes, 17.53 seconds, set in 2005.
I recomend a good track club and coach to help you achieve your goal.
Good luck

Well here is the math of it. 10,000 meters is approximately 7.5 miles. 7.5 miles times 4 equals 30 miles which is a little longer than a marathon. The world record for a marathon is a little over 2 hours. Basically, you would have to be superman. :) I am not going to say you CANNOT do it, but you are going to have to work INCREDIBLY hard. Good luck homie.

that's really hard, almost impossible! Don't be discouraged, you can start training for it, but it still doen't mean you'll be that fast. Check out this great training schedule
