First take a hunter saftey training course , then wait till your old enough to legally buy a hand gun .

There are people called Law Enforcement officers they have guns and will protect you until your old enough to own your own

If you don't have a license and it is required and you are not the proper age, do not get a gun. You will get yourself in a lot of trouble real quick. The people that would sell you a firearm given the situation you are describing are the same people you are claiming to need the gun to defend yourself from. Anyone willing to sell a gun to someone knowing it isn't legal is a pretty scumy character.
Sorry about your friend dying because of such an encounter, but getting a gun is not the right decision. If you do get a gun anyway and use it on a gang member in self defense, assuming you don't go to jail for illegal possession of a firearm or an unregistered firearm, or whatever a prosecuter can pin on you, you will probably have another encounter with the deceased gang member's friends. That is a whole new set of troubles, one you can't just shoot your way out of.
Don't get a gun and do your absolute best to avoid these people at all costs.

I'm not meaning to offend.

Sounds like if you got a gun, you would end up being part of the problem which is what gives responsible gun owners a bad name & adds ammo to the anti-gun fanatics.

All the same, for personal protection a Mossberg 500 will suit most needs.....................except carrimg conceiled, which shouldn't concern you as long as your just trying to protect yourself. I'd also suggest to stay out of harms way, if the gangs are in a certain place, don't go there. I think you may want a gun so you can go looking for a reason to shoot somebody, so without knowing you or the exact situation, I'd have to advise you at this time to not have a gun........

I would talk your parents into moving. A gun is not the answer. You pull a little 9 or .38 and you will end up dead. The gangs propably have weapons that will make yours look like a pea shooter.Your better off taking your chance running away. This is the safer way.

Any gun you might carry is merely a tool for dealing with the urban hobgoblins who don't already have the drop on you. It's NOT a magical talisman that wards off other people's bullets.

Your gun will NOT make YOU safe. At best it can point out to your opponent that he is unsafe, making him rethink his relationship to you.

By all means get a gun. It certainly CAN be useful. But if you want safety find a better neighborhood.

If you get caught with that gun, do you know what you'll be? A CRIMINAL! Get some pepper spray and some track shoes. And go to college, so you can move somewhere better. And, in the mean time, avoid the teen hangouts. You won't get layed as much, but you won't get shot over a piece of ***, either!

If you can not change neighborhoods you do have a constitutional right to protect yourself from being killed, however I don't know how you can defend yourself and break the law at the same time. You only have two choices, #1 Save your Life and become a survivor instead of a dead victim or #2 Save your life and be a survivor and break the law at the same time.. You decide its your choice.. Life or Death...

There's the dude that hangs out behind the liqour store. Ask him. He's either selling hot guns or is an undercover cop. Not sure which. Hard to tell. so ask him.

unless you are 21 you will not be able to buy a pistol. but if you are 18 or older you should be able to buy a hotgun or rifle. of course every state has diffrent rules and regulations i would check if i were you.

Carrying a handgun, unlicensed is a sure fire way to end up dead, or in jail. Usually it is a 1 year mandatory sentence, and that is just for the gun, add an additional year for every round of ammo you have on you. You might want to try a different option.
