You can help stop global warming in one day. I'm starting a mass movement and if we get enough people to help, it will work.
You know how your dad always yells and says, "What are you doing? Trying to cool the whole outdoors." when you leave the door open and the A/C is on.
On Wednesday, July 4th, everyone in the world is to run their air conditioning at full blast with all their doors and windows wide open. We will cool the whole outdoors like your dad said you would, and that will end global warming.

Now that we've got the nonsense out of the way, the best way to help is just live conservatively.

Apple trees

I WOULD BUY A TREE – IF IT WAS POSSIBLE ON ITUNES

I am a Norwegian citizen and therefore an inhabitant on the planet earth. Last night I saw the disturbing documentary "An Inconvenient truth" with Al Gore. The message of the film has already been clear to many of us, but nevertheless it's frightening when presented in such an educational manner.

I see myself as a fairly conscientious consumer but I still fear that we are coming up short. I am married with two children, and nothing would be more painful than knowing that we had a chance to alter our future but did nothing.

Throughout the years I have seen a number of haphazard attempts to act, but none of them has had quite the impact on the public as they should. Maybe the case that they where presented by a bunch of longhaired, pot-smoking hippies had something to do with it, what do I know?

But anyway the reason for me trying to communicate this to the world (or even better, Steve Jobs at Apple), is quite brilliant if you don't mind me saying so. I believe that if Steve Jobs runs across this idea somewhere on the web, he would really grab on to it.
So therefore it is important that this idea is forwarded to as many as possible. Let the internet do what it's supposed to do; Get good information across!

THE CONCEPT – " Apple-trees "

The concept is this: On Apple's outstanding internet store, ITunes you set up the possibility to buy an "Apple-tree". This will be a non-profit project where the income goes to funding the project itself, aside from a small handling charge. (I know that this sounds bad for a commercial enterprise, but I predict that this will really establish Apple as an environmentally conscious company.)

An "Apple-tree" is an audio- and/or a video-file where (hopefully!) Al Gore will thank you for buying an "Apple-tree". He will then explain to you that by buying an "Apple-tree" you are actually buying endangered rainforests in the tropical belt around the world, which by itself is not enough to save the world but is an important contribution. Then he will give you a new tip with every purchase of an "Apple-tree", of what you can do yourself to give the earth the upper hand in the battle against oblivion. There are several enterprises today that are planting or protecting the rainforest, so Apple would mainly be the front-end marketing arm.

I predict that with your Apple's impact on society, and how the conscientious consumers want to participate; this would be a way of getting control over the situation. In the near future people would meet at work, in school, in the neighbourhood and at home to compare the number of trees they have "planted".

This is good brand-building. Apple will make even more money while you are saving the planet.

Now, doesn't that sound cool?

Some ideas on reducing your waste in your daily lives.

- Switch from disposable to reusable products: food and beverage containers, cups, plates, writing pens, razors, towels, shopping bags, etc. As much as possible to help create a tree-free home:

- replace paper napkins with cloth napkins

- replace paper towels with a special set of cloth towels/napkins - store the used ones in a small container in your kitchen and just wash and reuse

- purchase bleach-free, toilet paper that is made from the highest post-consumer waste content you can find (80% minimum)

- if you print documents, print on once-used paper and/or bleach-free, recycled paper with the highest post-consumer waste content available

- While shopping, if you only buy a few products skip the shopping bag. For larger purchases, bring your own.

- Avoid products that are packaged for single use (i.e., drinks, school lunches, candy, cat and dog food, salad mixings, etc.). Instead, buy in bulk and transfer the products to your own reusable containers.

- Avoid creating trash wherever possible: when ordering food, avoid receiving any unnecessary plastic utensils, straws, etc.

Try this exercise: Think before you buy any product - do you really need it? How did the production of this product impact the environment and what further impacts will there be with the disposal of the product (and associated packaging materials)?

Again I must cut and paste. Currently, the earth orbit around the sun is elliptical. The two farther are the winter, south of the equator and winter north of the equator. The two farther ends of the elliptical are collapsing inward. The two that would be equivalent of fall and spring are expanding slightly. The orbit is becoming more circular than elliptical hence there will be a global warming. Very easily proven by triangulation over the past 100 years.

SURE:

Don't launch any more rockets into the upper atmosphere...huge producers of carbon dioxide in
the upper atmosphere.

Don't permit any more jet aircraft flights...huge producers of
carbon dioxide in the upper atmosphere.

Change the color of all things on the surface (as many as possible) of the Earth from BLACK to WHITE. Look at the roads and highways for example - All Black. Black things get hotter quicker than white things. look at the color of most residential and business roofs - mostly all black. Those should be changed to white.

Plant more evergreen shrubs everywhere...especially in towns and cities. Green plants eat carbon dioxide and give of oxygen.

Change incandescent lighting to flourescent lighting.

Change Electric and Gas (storage type) water heaters to
Heat on Demand water heaters to save electricity and gas consumption.

Trade in old low efficiency vehicles to newer high-mpg models.

Turn back your thermostats from 74 Degrees in Winter to about 68 Degrees. In Summer set thermostats at about 74 degrees and not 68 degrees.

I would say we start replacing shingles with solar panels, and just build all houses with them right away. that would certainley help. Then other things such as doing all your shoppping at once, as to save from driving back and forth. Stop building in forests, plants are the only thing that can reverse global warming, how dumb is it to kill them.

You can't stop it. It is a natural earth cycle. But we probably can help the climate by letting people that live in areas that cannot support themselves with food die off. That is the natural thing to do in the animal kingdom.

I agree with all the others with the light bulbs and public transportation or bike, and the grocery bags, also don't use paper plates, plastic forks, etc.... You can wash your dishes instead of creating more garbage. You don't need to run the water the entire time your washing the dishes also, soap a bunch up and rinse them off, turn off the water and repeat...saves water and energy.
