I dislike popcorn celings and my husband says that popcorn ceilings don't bother him the least.

Not good. They look nice for a short period of time and then the hold the cobwebs and dirt. If the ceiling has cracks and thats why you want the popcorn, remember drywall is very cheap. A little hard to put up, but still a cheap fix and much better than popcorn. I had all mine removed because it make the whole place look dirty.

Popcorn usually means the person didn't take the time to finish the drywall or there was damage and a cheap repair. Either way, popcorn = cheap.

You are right, it's time to get rid of the popcorn. It's been out of favor for a while now. Just maker sure you get someone who knows what they are doing to help. You cant just scrape it off and leave it. More than likely the drywall isnt finished.

I dislike popcorn ceilings because its hard to clean without all those particles falling-I had to hire a pro to repaint.

personally i can't stand them! they are so dated and unattractive. but that's me. i simply prefer cleaner lines and more modern looks, like a flat ceiling preferably with crown molding.
i can see where it doesn't bother someone, but to actually like them? i can't imagine that.

i hate them i helped my aunt get them off they are sooooo ugly!!
