Not to mention the hardest one to overcome, is the inability to go through life without passing judgement on others? I know I'm guilty of judging people, as I know many people are, both Christian and non-Christian.

Why can't we see that nobody is perfect, and all fall short of the grace of God?

My question isn't whether or not I understand why we do it, but rather if anyone else agrees that it is one of our greatest sins.

I do believe I said it wasn't limited to Christians.

Yes, Patfish, Judging and gossiping about the failures of others is one of our greatest downfalls.

You see, God hates it--He was the first victim of gossip/judging and it caused His loss of 1/3 of heaven's angels.

We tend to be insecure in our faith, or want esteem, so by belittling others, we attempt to elevate ourselves in the eyes of others, and ourselves.

But when someone gossips to you about someone you really love, you are hurt inside because you don't want your friend slandered.

This is wrong. If we truly love our neighbors as ourselves, we will defend rather than slander.

Exactly how one is saved is covered on-line at http://abiblecode.tripod.com/666.htm Although lengthy, it accurately sets forth how one is saved or lost--God's law is fulfilled by love.

Blessings, one-way

It is part of the blessing and curse from Adam and Eve eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Christians are called to judge things, especially within the church. We can also judge things according to the revealed judgments of God. Most people will agree it is wrong to murder, steal, lie, etc. It becomes more controversial with things like homosexuality, atheism, spiritualists and mediums, etc... even though God has already proclaimed certain judgments about them.

It really is a matter of the intention of our hearts when we judge another. If it is in anger, with intention to hurt... yes, it would be a sin. If it is from love, warning another that what they are doing can harm them or others... no, it would not. It would not be an act of love to quietly stand by and let the harm happen. Many will not heed the warning, perhaps becoming angry at the reminder, misinterpreting the attempt as implying that they are ignorant or stupid. Others simply do not want to hear that they are sinning. It is not our judgements... they are God's.

You are right... nobody is perfect. That is why we are in a position to have empathy and understand. We all fall short, and it only by God's mercy and grace that we can be forgiven. Judgment does has it's place in our lives. God reminds us that the standards we use wil be used with us as well. Love should be the motivation in all that we do.

Yes, a lot of Christians have critical spirits. They need to learn who they are in Christ. This is partly some of the Pastors fault for not teaching the congregation who they are in Christ.

Once you realize that baby Christians (born of God) are also made the righteousness of Christ, the same as the one who has matured in Christ for the last 20 years.

It is all Jesus Christ atonement for our sins. When we make rules to follow & judge others for not following the same rules, we are really just being self righteous. Then we get critical & then mad & then angry all the time, because others are wrong here or there (don't agree or do what we think is right).

I think everyone judges, but we as Christians really need to pump our breaks on it. some of the stuff i hear my "brothers and sisters" in Christ say about other people is down right mean.
that's not of God. and anything that we do that turns people off from the Gospel is a sin against God

I do not believe that passing judgement is one of our greatest sins. I would rate murder, rape, & theft as greater sins.

Q: "Why can't we see that nobody is perfect, and all fall short of the grace of God?"

A: I don't see anyone as perfect.

Nothing wrong with calling sin just what it is...sin. Nothing wrong with pointing out a "wrong." It's the way, reason, manner the judgment is done that can be offensive. Let he that is without sin cast the first stone. We all sin but if there is an obvious error it is our responsibility to offer aid. If something is wrong, don't call it right. Offer aid for positive correction.

I am not a christian and sin is not my province. But I can tell you that passing judgement on others is one of the main reasons people don't want to be around christians.

Yes we are all susceptible.

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

All sin, besides blaspheming the Holy Spirit, is equal in the sight of God.

ANY sin will separate us from God, that is why repentance is so important. I wouldn't say one is "the greatest" over another.

I don't know I kind of think it might be temper. Alot of things are said about Christians, alot of bad things, we are called alot of names, we are made fun of. You know this is alot for anyone to have to endure. With all of this going on, you can't tell me your feathers haven't been ruffled a time or six. Its hard to keep the tongue under control and not lash right back. But you know with proper faith and letting God take care of it, makes us the better person in the long run.

People really get that scripture wrong, the word is not really saying that we shouldnt judge what it is saying that we shouldnt judge by a standerd that we wont live ourselves.

So dont judge people by a standerd that you wont, live yourself. And you will be fine, go back and read the scriptures again on judging, for also we dont judge the person but the sin.
