Go to your Local Police Station WITH copies of the Forged Checks (from your bank, of course), along with your notification to the bank that these are NOT what you did (where you told the Bank that these were stolen checks) ...

AND ...

Ask to speak to an officer and to file the report at this time. DO this pretty soon. After all, this is a CRIME ... and Identity Theft (which is also a concern) is SERIOUS -- your CREDIT RATING can be destroyed by the individual who stole and forged your checks!

IDENTIFY to the officer who did this FORGING too. That way, they can have all the information needed to make the investigation a relatively painless process.

Just go to the police station and file a report then take that report to your bank and they will open you a new account. When they arrest that family member you are going to have to press charges.

Just pick up the phone and call the police. Not 911 please. Look up the police station's #. Also, notify your bank and stop the checks or close the account, whatever they recommend.
