needs information on the automatic headlight dimmer system?

i need more information to help me review literture for my project-work

First time I saw the headlight auto dimming feature was General motors cars back in the fiftys. The lens and device looked like a little torpedo on the dash board. I don't remember the trade name. I think they were called Cat's Eyes.
