My mom's cat keeps constantly peeing on her bed covers. My mom can wash her covers and the cat waits until my mom's head is turned and goes and piddles on them. She will even pee on them when my mom is in the bed. She doesn't poop on the bed, she is kind enough to use the litter box for that. What can be done about this? She isn't spayed. Does anyone think that will help? Even the other night she climbed up on my mom's hip and piddled there. If you have any suggestions please feel free to post them. Thanks!

Is the litter box clean? Some cats are very very strict about having a clean bathroom. The other reason is a urinary tract infection. Go see the vet who will do a urine test. The cat may be upset about something. Were there any changes in the home? A new person, new pet, rearrange the furniture, etc etc? Cats try to tell you stuff but you have to figure out what it is they are saying...

Does the cat sleep with your Mom? Sometimes a cat will pee in the area where it feels it is in it's territory. After the cat is spayed they aren't as bad about doing this...

Why is she not spayed? That will help, and will help other things to, including her to have a long healthy life. But this also could be a serious urinary tract infection, so please get her checked asap, that can become serious. PS, cats don't pee because they are mad, that is bogus. I have heard of some peeing or pooping to show their are upset about something, but often it's a health condition, so please don't punish the poor cat.

Take her to the vet. My vet explained that when a cat does something out of the ordinary, out of routine, they are very likely ill.

Also, some cats [emphasizing "some"] will not urinate and defecate in the same box - they need separate litters. But still, take her to the vet.

your mothers cat may have some bladder issues. Did your mom do anything that may have made the cat mad? I know that when my mom's husband made our cat mad, he out poop and pee on my mom's husband's side of the bed and in his shoes. It was pretty funny. But we later found out that when he fed our cat he shut the door and the litterbox that was above the food dish fell in it and that made the cat mad.

She may be sick, but I have read that cat's urinate on their owner's things, if they are angry at their owners.
Has your mother been away from home more often, recently? Gotten a new animal, or had a baby? Has your mother moved to a new house?
Has anything happened differently that could have upset the cat?

The cat knows your mom's the one who cleans the litter and the one whom the bed (cover) belongs to. Our cats only peed, not poop, always on my roommate's bed, never on mine and my roommate's the one known to the cats who cleans their litter, not me. Your mom's been letting the litter too long everytime before replacing it with fresh new one that your cat can't find any spot to dig anymore and that's the way your cat's letting her, not anyone else, know, "i want my litter cleaned please.. please.."

if the cat only pees on your moms sheets that probably means that that cat is very mad at her, but there is a possibility that shes sick

If your mom has a cat that peed on anything inside the house, let alone did it more than once, it's not the cat that has the problem. It's the human who tolerates such nastiness. The beast needs to go.
