try ares at www.ares.com or www.mp3rocket.com. actually all software go the pro and cons limewire is a good prog and like others too but you just must be more aware with what you want to download be curious with size and the extension for mp3 usually 2,500kb and above and the file extension like song is mp3, movie is avi and picture is jpg or bmp. avoid to download anything with exe extension. be sure before you download anything.

Sorry, but recording studios are cracking down on copyright infringements and going after those who download for "free". The days of safe, free music are over.

Better to spend a few cents for a song than to risk being fined or worse.

The only legit places may be the free samples from a musicians own site.

There's no such thing as "downloading music for free." Maybe a song from the artist's official site. However, you can use pandorasbox.com, or seeqpod.com/music, to play whatever songs you want. Seeqpod is my favourite. If you are crafty, and know where the mp3 files are 'cached' you can move them to another folder ;D

Well you can't really download the music, but you can listen to pretty much anything you want to on this site.

www.imeem.com

It is a really good music site.
