My dog is only 4 years old and just 2 weeks ago diagnosed with kidney failure and almost died. It was 3800 and alot of time and frustration. Luckily she is fine, but it doesnt make any sense.... how can i tell if it is from any of the dog food that was tainted... i change her food often... i asked the vet and they said "oh no" before i even finished my sentenced. It just seemed fishy...
any suggestions of what to do and how to do it??

The dogs with the kidney failure from the food, are very sick, high BUN, CREAT, PHOS and generally blood in the urine..
unfortunately unless you have the bag, with the lot numbers and brand to confirm it,, there is no way on knowing if it was the food..
Kidney failure..
Causes can be caused by several diff rent toxic substances..
house plants, Antifreeze( this causes distinct changes in the blood work and urine test and can be confirmed) Fungal toxins and such..house hold cleaning products,Medications, Tylenol, and several human drugs if given to dogs causes kidney failure

INFECTIOUS CONDITIONS
Leptosprirosis is the big one, Lyme disease E Cains infections, are the most common..

INHERITED CONDITIONS
Several breed suffer from inherited kidney problems, that can cause a young dog to go into kidney failure a good percentage of them can be diagnosis by ultrasound and Kidney biopsy..

Diagnosis is often not so much as confirming or proving that is what caused it but, elimination of the more frequent causes, if your dog responded to treatment, fluids support, antibiotics and has recovered that does point to more likely a toxic or infectious process Vs a genetic health disorder.. but sometime you can never know for sure,, because with toxins most are difficult to isolate.. there are just no test to say for sure,, especially in animals.. despite all the CSI shows that make it look like there is..

http://spca.com/petfoodrecall. Could be dot org rather than com, but they update the information often so check and see if yours is on the current or archived lists on the recalls. Your vet is not in collusion with these sleazy pet food factories and probably noted your dog's symptoms did not fit the profile. Does your dog get out and wander as anti-freeze and other chems can also cause kidney failure. Only way to really prove it was the pet food would be through an autopsy and this is not what you want at all. Consider yourself lucky your vet pulled her through no matter what the cause.

If the vet seems sure that it wasn't from tainted food, it probably wasn't. Vets are pretty much aware of the signs. And they are not in league with the pet food companies; they have no incentive to cover it up.
