Yes. New drivers are watched for accidents because people who have accidents as younger drivers tend to have more accidents than those who have never had one, even if the accidents are not their fault.
Your insurance company may raise your rates, but the good news is some companies don't if it your first accident, and you was not at fault. If your rates go up, shop around for a new company. You can usually find one who will forgive one accident if the police report shows the other driver at fault.

Yes, depending upon your insurance company your rates can go up. My mother was hit from behind by an uninsured driver. She was 43 years old and had never had a ticket or been in an accident in her life. She and my father had the same insurance company even since they had been married (for over 20 years). Their insurance rates went up because of this one accident. My dad changed insurance companies. He was so angry. The other insurance company wasn't any cheaper but he wasn't going to give this other insurance company any more of his money.

It depends on your company and what market you are in - if you've been with the company a while, have a good payment history and no claims, then you are in a good market. If this is the case, then a not at fault accident will not change your rate.
However, if your market is not as good (a few late payments, a few claims, etc), then a not at fault accident will change your rate.

Yes. They almost always do. They say it is because you are not a good defensive driver. Go figure.
