Why does captain phil, who caught the most crab in pounds, make less money than those who caught less crab ? He had 400,000 pounds and made 750,000 dollars and ships who caught less in pounds made over a million dollars.

His total amount though was less than the others who bought in less crab, he bought in the most crab, his total should have been the highest.

You forget that Captain Phil is just that ... he's the captain and not the owner of the boat. All of the crew members, including the captains, agree to work for a percentage of the net profit from the sale of the crabs. The difference between what the crews earn, from boat to boat, is the amount the boat owners take for themselves.

You might be looking at the amount paid per deckhand. His F/V has more deckhands than say the Northwestern, who operate with only 4. Also, the longer you stay out, the more expenses you have. Finally, there are negotiated rates per pound with the processors. He uses a different processor than the others on the show.

he amount they make depends on the crew team. If there are less crew members, there are less people to divide the cost with. His crew was the biggest, so they didn't personaly get more money. Get what I mean?
