"I don't know" is perfectly acceptable. I think this observation you are making is based on some very vocal Christians. Oftentimes the 'know it all' type of person is very vocal, right? A know it all type will not be okay with saying "I don't know". I'm sorry that these people have made such an impression on you.
The truth is that nobody knows for sure. Faith tells us to believe, life (for me) reconfirms that belief. Nobody has been to heaven (had tea with God, maybe?) and lived to tell about it so therefore nobody will ever have all the answers.

The questions asked are not that tough. Usually there just a childlike bash which doesn't deserve an answer. Also, we tie most to the bible because we believe it's the word of God.

I don't know of any reasons to be afraid of the phrase: "I don't know."
I think that many Christian churches try to make it their mission to solve everybody's problems. Those same Christian churches try to "market" and "advertise" these problem solving services rather than evangelizing the faith itself. Saying "I don't know" is a poor marketing strategy, like saying I don't know if Brand X is better than Brand Y.
It was never the function of the Church to solve people's problems, it was to bring them to God, so He can give them the grace to solve their own problems.

I don't know why some christians don't feel it is ok to say 'I don't know' because, quite frankly, christians do not know it all and not every single answer to every single question we have is found in the bible.

I AM a Christian but I don't know allot of things.I dont know all the Bible names or stories. I don't know any verses by memory. I am learning and this doesn't make me less of a Christian than anyone else.

i have no problem with admitting what i don't know...as i've gotten older i've learned that what i DON'T know far outweighs what i DO know...but i suspect that a lot of people try to come up with SOME kinda answer so they don't get accused of being afraid of the question

I don't know is perfectly ok since we are christians who are growing in our Faith. To say otherwise may lead some the wrong way. I think it is ok to say this is my personal opinion on....., but should not base it on the Bible unless you know it is biblical. I agree. Thanks

I hope so as I say it often enough. I tell my sons that there is no shame in saying "I don't know" but that they should follow it up with "I'll find out."
