Keep them in seperate cages!!! My friend's daughter put her rat and Guinea Pig in the same cage and the rat killed the Guinea Pig. If they are used to being together it may work but I just wouldn't trust it.
Good luck!

Not a good idea to house a rat and guinea pig together because the dietary needs are different and guinea pigs occasionally eat their own feces to aid digestion. It is not good for the guinea pig to eat the rat feces though. The rat should have a cage in which it can climb. The guinea pig needs a hiding place in its cage. Sometimes I will give customers recommendations about compatible animals if it can be done safely and saves money.

You would be taking a big risk keeping them together. They have very different needs nutritionally as well. The guinea pig would most likely become very stressed by the rat, and the rat may be too aggressive with the guinea pig.

They can live together; I once kept a rabbit, a guinea pig, and 3 rats together.
The difficulty is that they eat different food. But the guinea pig wants to eat the rats' food. I dealt with this by giving the rats a separate compartment that the guinea pig couldn't fit into. If you can figure this out, they will be fine together.

No way. I took in a rat from my vet and the previous owners put him in with a guinea pig and he tore up the guinea pig pretty good. Our vet kept the rat, because these owners didn't know what they were doing. The rat was a complete sweetie pie to us when we got him. So please don't do it.

Guinea pigs and rats are the two very candy & social, yet could *no longer* share a cage. they have diverse nutritional desires, are appreciably diverse in length & the two or the two animals are in all risk to be heavily injury if prepare.
