What do you think about Christian politicians who claim to be Pro-choice? Should they be allowed to be active participants in a particular denomination? I know there is a lot of talk about Bishops with-holding communion from Catholics.....

You are right on!

I do not think that it is possible to claim to be a Christian and then be pro-choice.

If you are, then maybe your should question your relationship with Christ and whether or not it is genuine.

I believe in pro-choice because I feel that a woman should have the right to make decisions regarding her body. If it came down to a woman having to make a decision to abort because of rape or incest, then she should be able to decide what she wants to do and know that she has a choice/choices in the matter. Just like she can choose to keep the child or give it up for adoption. Then there are the ones who have to make a choice because of health reasons. Should we pass judgement on a woman who has chosen to abort because her life was in danger? No, because we don't know her personal turmoil. What if she has little ones at home? Is she being selfish because she has an abortion, or is she being selfish that she didn't have one and died in the process, leaving her young ones without a mother, all because she was made to feel guilty about having an abortion? We are no one to judge. I personally do not condone abortion, but I would never pass judgement on anyone who has had one. If a woman decides to have an abortion, that is her choice, as she, not anyone else, will have to face the consequences on her judgement day. However, I do not believe in abortion as a form of birth control, and there are many women who have had abortions because of this reason.

Ok, many have said that there is a difference between pro-choice and pro-abortion.

Let me elaborate. Pro-choice while being anti-abortion means that you personally do not endorse abortions and would not have one, but you respect the fact other people think differently than you do and you dont think they should be consticted by your beliefs.

its like the target christmas case a ocupel years ago. Christsians boycotted target for saying happy holidays instead of merry christmas. They failed to realize that people also celebrate haanukah and kwaanza duroing this period as well.

Pro-choice does not equal pro-abortion.

Someone can be anti-abortion, but still realize that others don't have the same view. Anyone who falls into this category would be considered Pro-choice.

Furthermore, I think it's also possible for a Christian to think that abortion is OK. Not all Christians are Evangelicals or Catholics.

Added: Mike, well said!

Personally, I am anti-abortion ... I have a son, and I can't imagine my wife having an abortion. However, just because those are my beliefs doesn't mean others feel the same way. For that reason, I am pro-choice.

They can believe what they want. A No Vote is best way to send a message that their position will not fly with Christians. Politicians that work both sides of an issue are unprincipled.

Well, I guess it depends on the denomination. I think if they are Catholic, Conservative Christian, or Evangelical Christian, they should be educated, given a few chances, and if they don't change their mind they must give up their membership to the church, and not be allowed to lead any of the groups. I am not much for excommunication, but I don't think we should let people teach Sunday school for example, if they aren't even TRYING to live a Christian lifestyle.

Christian, portraying the life of Christ is prolife. Anything else is not christian, they're deceived. Everyone has the choice of who they affiliate with as for as denomination/ or religion are considered. First of all our loyalty should be for God, then He will lead each of us as He wants. <><

Back in my home town there was a deacon in a Methodist church who was also an abortion DR....something just wasn't right there. Ya know if you are a MD who has to perform abortions in medial emergencies that is one thing but to do it as a full time job and still be able to say you are right with God...I don't think so.

They are professing christians who wear the label, talk the talk, without walking the walk.. They are lukewarmers who straddle the fence. God sees the heart and judges accordingly.
