It says it but most Christians pick and choose which parts of the Bible to believe or obey. "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image" is a good example. "Remember the Sabbath Day (Saturday) to keep it holy." is another. If you were to take everything Jesus taught literally you would have to believe in infant damnation and other morally repugnant stuff. The same is true of moderate Islamists. The Jihadists are merely trying to follow the teachings of the Koran as closely as they can. The moderates are ignoring the parts that contradict their moral instincts.

Yes, it does. Isn't it wonderful that Christianity (unlike Islam) has had a reformation, and no longer believes in following or the "absolute truth" of everything in the Bible for every age. They understand the different era we live in, and are enlightened enough to know the difference.

You did know that, didn't you? I'm often surprised at how many detractors of Christianity (often Islamic supporters) who seem to think that their own backward attachments to the past apply to Christianity as well.

I've also noticed a surprisingly large number of Atheists who are ignorant of the same thing, which is surprising to me, as many of the Atheists I have known were rather well read and aware of Christianities growth and development, simply seeing no reason to accept it for themselves.

You were aware that people don't try to do this anymore, right? You are educated enough?

Listen the equivalent of that today the children that disobedient to Parents,the Parents can turn them in the juvenile laws,yes they will be punish and imprison,and be sentence to death if they committ crime such as killing,because parents considered also human beings"by the Law"and Goverment Laws was based also in the Bible,because there is Christian Law makers and they passed this Laws since the old day's

That means more of an after life sort of thing. The child will suffer for his sins after death, as everyone will.
