This happened to a friend of mine and it ended up that her son was eating those fruit by the foot snacks and once she stopped him on those, the color went back to normal. It has to be something that he is putting in his mouth.

She has either been eating blueberries like the other person said, but it could also be anything with blue dye's like popsiciles, kool-aid or any like juice, she could have swallowed a crayon, or a host of many other things. The good news is though, that there is no natural problem that will turn your poop blue. So as long as she's not complaining about a tummy ache and she is pooping fine, she will be okay. It is just the funny things that kids put in their mouths...... lol

If he seems to be feeling fine otherwise, I wouldn't panic. Yes, call the doctor in the morning if it will make you feel better, and he may want to look him over, but really, it is likely some artificial coloring he's eating. Kids foods are *full* of it these days. Personally I cut out as much artificial color as I reasonably can from my family's diet. Read the ingrediants for things like FD&C Blue #1, Yellow #5 or 6, Red 40. Such things are known to be harmful, but are allowed in foods because they are in such small amounts.

I was in a panic once when my daughter was having "blue" bowel movements. I called the doctor right away. The doctor was quite amused but assured me he could probably have me answer a few questions and determine what it was. Sure enough when he asked what she had been eating in the last 48 hours he pin pointed the homemade baked beans!!! He told me that foods high in protein would cause blue bowel movements. Sure enough each time she ate the baked beans that was the result. I cannot say it would apply to the blue snot but you can call your doctor to verify this. Good luck and I hope you find it to be something worth giggling about in later years.

While some foods can make a child's feces blue (especially certain gatorades, candies, etc.), so can some serious illnesses. If you haven't called your child's pediatrician, I would do so immediately and explain what has been going on. All doctors have a call service, and they always have a way to be reached. I would do so - just to be sure. May God bless you and keep you - and I pray that everything is just fine with your son.

Ewww, the only one that's going to calm your fears is your child's physician. My 6 year old has never had blue anything coming out of his body ... and if he did I wouldn't wait a few weeks to question his Dr about it!

She's probably eating a lot of berry flavored candy, or blue chips, yogurt, blue poptarts...It's probably something that she's eating when not in your presence. I've never seen it come thru snot, though.

My daughter's poop turned blue after eating certain yogurts. Also, after eating cupcakes w/green frosting...it was green. Crayons usually come out in flakes/chunks.
