I've already double checked to make sure the cable is properly connected to the tower. What else can I try?

If your speakers are too new and you are using an old tower, its not likely it will work

Hi.when you put your ear against the speaker is it dead silent or is there a faint hissing sound.Have you checked all the connections on the amplifier.Have you selected the right input on the amp to the source you want to hear .If you turn the volume control to max. does the hiss (if any ) increase.Have you tried disconnecting the speaker cable plugs or whatever you have to connect the wire to the speaker terminals on the back of the amp. Make sure you turn everything off before you do this.If nothing happens after reconnecting and turning the gear back on gently move the speaker plugs with your fingers on the back of the amp to see if a noise is produced from the speaker.See if any of this works Someone else might help you better.

some amps have a menu where you can turn on or off your speakers, check this .

or try a button named speaker test or something like that to check if they are connected properly
